Idea: Anandtech Cluster

There has been a TA cluster, it was called the warpcore and consisted of Abit BP6 m/b's with dual celerons o/c to 550 MHz. (so a long time ago) I believe about 10 nodes. I recall DanC and Clay Autery having something to do with this. It was realised through financial contributions for m/b's...

What was the first machine in your farm?

A 486 DX2-66 on the first RC5 (I believe 56-bit, so RC5-56) It was my first computer and doesn't run anymore. A quick search shows it must have been around 1997.

What a great thread, just when I "come back home" Another oldtimer returning to the Anandtech family. I just started Boinc / Malariacontrol. And yes, i also remember both names from some time ago. (for the people who don't remember me: I'm Dutch, so my English might be off sometimes)

Which project?

Couldn't get F@H to send/receive, so I switched to FAD, which is running now. On basis of the points when I quit this project, I am 2277 in the stats. Let's see! And the PC has HT enabled, so that should be an extra few points a day.

Antec 3700 BQE silencing

After getting this case, I found the exhaust fan to be the loudest part in the system. I measured it to use about 0.1 A at 12V. So I added some resistors: 24 Ohm brings the fan back to about 10.2 volt, 47 Ohm brings it to about 8.8 volt. This is quiet enough for me. But when my overclocked...

My stats also seem strange. How many candidates/conformers should an XP 2800+ with 1024 MB do in a day? Is something like 25/500 per day normal?

34 days or so until TA loses D2OL to our DPC "friends". :(

What's your FaD CPU rating?

The rating is 140 or 168 for my P4 2.6 (no HT) My XP1800+ with several speeds in overclocking has been 120, 140, 168, 200 and 210.

An athlon XP1800+ @ 11x200 = 2200 MHz at home and a P4 2.6 (no HT) at work. Right now both doing half FaD and half S@H. As soon as S@H is over / won, they'll just be doing FaD. And a question: Why doesn't the client send/receive according to the settings? Is this a known bug or some setting I...

Wow, 12` drop from switching hsf position.

I have seen this kind of change once. This was a case with the PSU in front of the mainboard and a fan sucking out the air about 1 cm (0.4 inch) away from the HSF. Changing the fan direction made a big difference here.

After some research in several forums, it seems there are (too) many factors in estimating the speed. Most important are: Cpu-type (AMD/Intel), OS and optimizations (3DNow+ or SSE) and client-version. For Tinkers, there's little more than pure speed, as this doesn't use optimizations. For...

The DPC are having a "stampede" (like ARS' gauntlets) and have chosen to support ECC2-109 for a month. So we beat them now, but in a month they'll be back. (And maybe with a LOT of force)

New system: EDIT - got the 8RDA+

Maybe you can try to get an Abit NF7-S, they can reach very high FSB's. Don't know if they are more or less expensive in the states. In Holland, it's about the same as epox or asus.
