Are there any consumer motherboards (Z170/Z270/Z370) that allow you to shut down the SATA ports in the BIOS and reassign the resources they use to PCIe ports (i.e. increase the number of PCIe ports that are X16)?
Solved and thanks to Billy Tallis. A few quirks though, When I disabled CSM in the BIOS I lost my GTX 1060 VGA card and got three rapid beeps during boot and couldn't access the BIOS control panel. Changed to 'Auto' for CSM and both card and Optane 900P recognized. I wiped the 900p clean using...
Storage Spaces says it can't create the pool. I create a span drive with the 3 drives in Control Panel>Admin Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management and Windows Explorer finds it and uses it with no problem.
I am installing Windows 10. I 'Load" the Intel drivers at the first dialogue box which identifies the 900P as installed. I checked the BIOS. It was set for 'Other OS'. I set it for "UEFI OS" which support boot security. Still stopped by Windows with a msg saying device isn't bootable check BIOS...

I have a 900P installed in the PCIE16_X4 slot on my ASUS Prime Z370 A but Windows won't install there even though it recognizes the drive and loads the drivers during Windows install. It says it is not a bootable device. Has anyone been able to install the 900 P as a Windows boot drive?
Problem solved! Egg on my face. Turns out it was an SSD problem. Both Samsung 850 EVO 2TB's had been installed in a Thunderbolt3 Duo housing configured as RAID 0 before I put them in my new ASUS Z370 build. Even though both showed up individually in the build, when installed together, some...
I will check on the latest BIOS update. It hits me strange though that it sees the Blu Ray Drive at SATA 2 but when I disconnect it and substitute the second Samsung SSD at SATA 2 it still doesn't show up. I can see from the user guide that SATA Ports 1, 5 & 6 may be affected by the M.2 port...
I recently build a new PC with an ASUS Prime Z370 A Motherboard/Core i7 8700k with 2 Samsung Pro 960 NVMe 512GB SSD's installed in the two M.2 ports configured as RAID 0. I also installed 2 Samsung 850 EVO 2TB SSD's at SATA 3 & 4 and a Blu Ray Drive at SATA 2 (I avoided SATA's 1, 5 & 6 since...
