I am building the follwoing system
ASUS A7A266 Main Board
AMD T-Bird 1.2GIG(266FSB)
256MB DDR SDRAM PC2100
Creative Annahilator II 1.6gig Video 64mb card
2 IBM Deskstar 60GIG 7200 rpm Hard drives ATA 100
Plextor CDRW
CL 52x CDROM
What case would you reccomend also Power supply...
Obviously Dell and gateway are overpriced. Does anyone have any ideas? I need a Pre-built PC (ex AMD 1.2g ddr) by July 12th and I do not have the time to buy it piece by piece from MWAVE etc... and build it from scratch like I usally do.
Any thoughts would help

He will be using the card for his Cable modem connection which gets hooked up tomorrow. I thought maybe it was the card looking for an IP address, but when I installed the same card in two of my other friends PCs they did not hang.
How do I disable DHCP Bios, or TCP setting through Network...
Yes Thx. I did check that. I have Version 4 and have the version 4 driver installed. :(
Any other ideas? Pc never locked it just hangs 1-2 minutes before the wallpaper screen. When I take the Network card out the system boots up very fast.

After I installed my Linksys Ethernet card my friends PC hangs for about 1-2 minutes during bootup. Normal boot, then Win 98 screen and then it goes to a black curser blinking in the top left for 1-2 minutes until finally the wallpaper??
Any ideas??

For my problem.... I installed WIn 98 SE and everything ran great!! I then flahsed the BIOS from 1002A-1 to 1004 for my ASUS a7v133 Mainboard. I also have an ATA 100 IBM Drive.
After I flashed the BIOS I rebooted and the problem arose. I tried every problem listed virus to drivers for IDE...
I have the same roblem with ll my drives going to what you said.
I am running win 98SE

I installed all the above and...
Just to let everyone know. I updated my Bios on my Motherboard and used Drive Manger 2000 to install the drive. everything is running corectly now.

Yeah I gave up with the Vendor software crap.. I just FDISKed the drive. the funny thing is that it only recognized 58000+ not the 61000 any idea why? ALso wahy to you lose MBs to GIGs when you instal win 98?

I have the above motherboard and have the newest Bios installed.
According to the specs this MB supports ECC Memory.
I ordered 256MB Stick from Crucial.com
it was a 256MB CAS2 with ecc for $87.00
After I installed the stick the system recoganized it and booted up.

I have had Telocity SDSL since January 20th, 2001. It has gone down for minutes up to hours a few times. But here is the problem My service has been down since Monday and they say my Trouble Ticket is still in review.

I deleted the partiton and it still said 8057? I figured out what was wrong. MY bios from 2000 does not support HD over 30GIGs so I had to install the drive using DRIVEMANAGER2000.

Guys. I did all you said I needed to do and it still total disk space of 8057 even after I deleted all the partitions. And YES of course I said Y to the FAT 32 system. Here was my problem: I have a GIG-A-BYTE Motherboard from early 2000, the BIOS on this board does not support hard drives...
