Hi All, I currently have a P4 2.4C with 2x256 PC3700 (3-4-4-8) TWINX XMS Corsairs running.. Not very stable at 3.0ghz with 250fsb... so i set it at 233fsb. Some people suggest getting tighter timing rather than high DDR. What's the advantage / disadvantage of either?

For Newbies:
You need at least 1920 vertical lines (or width) and 1080 horizontal lines (or height) on your monitor to take full advantage of the video.
1280x1024 is under 1920x1080 so the picture gets scaled (missing some pixels). The 2005fpw is at 1680x1050, it is still missing some...
get a hd590 headphone then, the bass will still sound better :-p
of course, a speaker + receiver system will cost more and run you around $500+. Thats why i say take the money and invest in it. It's better than junking those pc speakers after 3 yrs.
For the $$$, I'd invest the money on a kickass receiver + some good bookshelf speakers. At least you'll still be making good use out of it after 4-5 yrs. If you're really on a tight budget but really want good sound, get yourself a sennheiser hd590 headphone (under $120 for refurb on amazon)...
I got my prelude retrofitted (H1 HID kits didn't exist at the time) for close to a grand (including labor / calibration / drilling holes thru the housing). Real osram bulbs are at 4300K, which is the whitest & brightest color temp possible. Boy are they bright :P
Anything ~5000K or over...
I am like the 30th person to read this thread.. Now it's almost 2000, and I've gotten ZIP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well.. it's something good to have, not very desperate for it though..
I don't care for analog or dsp though.. coz the receiver is doing all of that and I wanna know if spending $100 bux on a sound card is worth the difference, IF there is any difference..
Is there any difference (signal wise) among digital outputs of lets say Sblive 5.1, Audigy 1, Audigy 2, M-audio Revolution 7.1, and other Sound Cards that provides Coax / Optical out? Sound Blaster seems to have all these dsp effects and I am not sure if they are processed on the sound card...
I am using a SB Live 5.1 Platinum with its coax spdif out. The reciever does 24/96, but the card does 16 bit. Assuming I take all the digital effects and stuff out of there, would I get the optimal sound quality (wouldn't make a difference if i use audigy 2 plat ex.)? Or do you think this old...
If I hook up one of these up directly to a high end receiver (HK AVRs, Denons, etc) via digital out, would it make any difference among all these $20-$200 sound cards? I mean, does the sound card matter anymore since the receiver does all the decoding and amplification? I am just concerned...

My config is
Intel 2.4Cghz (800fsb)
asus P4P800 Deluxe
2x256 Corsair XMS3700 TWINX (dual channel mode)
I set my 2.4C to a 3.0 DDR500 1:1 Ratio setting. Prime95 runs fine for hours, but occasionally the machine fails to boot. When I touch the RAM, its slightly hotter than my cpu heatsink on...

I think it was the seating problem. Reduced to 52C and it installed WinXP fine. However, my computer locks up 95% of the time when the taskbar icon loads. The remaining 5% i get lucky and can browse around windows. It will lock up when i open windows media player. Do you think I have already...
I was moving this KT133 (athlon tbird 1.2ghz) into a new case.

78C.. oh great.. the heatsink is pretty hot, but not burning not.. This is when the case is wide open. Okay, then I put a 80mm sitting on the side of the heatsink blowing from the side...
