Hi guys,
I need some PC advice asap... I´ve been running a powerful PC for about 30 years now, but the problem is i need a secondary (prebuilt) system to run some very demanding tasks. I´ve had some trouble with broken cassettes on my system, most likely because of the demanding software i run...
Well i doubt i need to buy the top dog, i think that the i5 8400 will be worth buying... But then again what are AMD's new cpu's going to do? Intel is still king on the used market, but who knows that might change in the future...
You didn't call it those, before i indicated it was a figure of speech.... But yeah we all have our own opinions, and ours happen to differ severely....
A dedicated dGPU even a used one, will be 10x better than the vega 11 graphics. But sure there's enough reasons to be find use for an APU, especially for a small form factor htpc for instance.
But in a full fledged desktop for that price?
Thing is the 2400G is priced to closely to the 1600...
You guys are talking about "future proofing" yet AMD is phasing out the so called "old" ryzen cpu's lol...
There is no future proofing, unless you decide to stretch out usage yourself. I myself don't really care if a platform is deemed "dead" by the masses, i care about my own objective...
I would just save up a little more, get one of the APU's and put a 1050ti (or follow up most likely to drop in April) card in there.
Thing is the price for a 1050 ti or equivalent needs to be sub 200 dollars, for me to really recommend it right now.
AMD have said the will keep the prices of...
Well thanks for responding, but no need to patronise me. Enough people who have the motherboards, can post their experiences in a dedicated thread for instance.
We´ve seen lists of affected cpu´s but where´s the lists of patched/fixed motherboards/cpu´s?
Is there an existing list for end-users to find out which motherboards/cpu´s have been patched/updated against spectre/meltdown??? Like from 1155 till the current motherboards/cpu´s for instance?
If...
I don´t know if i should open up a new thread to discuss this, but would it perhaps be a good idea to create a comprehensive thread (list) with motherboards that have gotten updates? Or haven´t there been any updates worth noting to make such a list? It would make things easier for us used...
It will most likely not affect daily usage scenarios but gaming is affected 100%... Check out this Russian guy (don´t know if he used dual or just one channel 8GB 3200)...
Performance takes a massive kick in the nuts if you ask me...
Can you do the benchmarks with 8GB dual channel memory? Because the whole ¨budget¨ gaming king gaming crap is annoying to read all over the web, it´s not ¨budget¨ gaming when a person needs to scrap out another 161/170 €/$ to buy 16GB of memory... It is budget if one´s willing to accept the...
Nice to know!! Linus did a video recently on an old grapics card he used/abused intensely for years... Almost zero degradation except for the moving parts (the fan(s).
Used market becoming more appealing by the minute...
I have seen how 8Gb 3200 dual channel performs (in games) with the 2400G, and it completely sucks donkey balls!
These are not worth it for gaming with the current prices of ram!!! Fast 16Gb is needed to really make these shine in gaming, plus the gaming isn't even that great.
Instead of buying...
To be honest the DDR4 prices are pushing me towards a used market combo (old/new) parts also... Throwing in a 1050ti and boom it destroys these in price/performance. (Sadly not in power consumption)
What combo would you recommend?
And i do think it's relevant to this discussion, because the...
