"There is no relation between suicide rate and gun ownership rates around the world. According to the 2016 World Health Statistics report, (2) suicide rates in the four countries cited as having restrictive gun control laws have suicide rates that are comparable to that in the U. S...
Wow, you're not reading what I'm saying at all. I have stated MULTIPLE times about access. What they have on hand. Ownership has nothing to do with it (of a sort). Having access to a firearm is an (highly) increased risk of it being successful. We've been saying the same thing on that.
And...
That's so far off it's not even funny. Again, it's what people have access to. If they only have access to pills that may be the route they take. If they have access to a firearm, it's sudden. If they had access to pills that would kill them instantly they would probably use them. Suicide is a...
Yeah, what do you think my backup job was going to be in case I needed it. I have a psych degree. I did the research myself and I said basically the same thing you did with one exception - having a firearm or not people will still kill themselves successfully. Countries that don't have access to...
"Conclusions—Guns are used to threaten and intimidate far more often than they are used in self defense. Most self reported self defense gun uses may well be illegal and against the interests of society"
That's the quote from the article. "may well be" is not the same thing as is.

No, it's not. Even with your quote. It didn't define it at being criminal, it says it probably was but was ruled otherwise. Read it.

I did a research paper on this when I was in college. It doesn't matter if the society has firearms or not. If someone is going to take their life they will figure out a way to do it.

You are so far off on that. Correlation does not imply causation. Someone taking pills are just as serious as someone using a firearm. It's what you have available at the time that makes the difference. Sorry I majored in psychology. Leave it to the people who know what they're talking about in...
Sorry you're correct, I meant to say overdose is the most common method used, but firearms are more successful.

I can tell you that I walk by lots of people who carry. I've been trained to see the signs, I can pick them out. You'd be amazed at the people who do. Also, there are many that carry a firearm in their even if they don't carry it on their person.

Let's not forget the states that have constitutional carry where you don't have to have a concealed permit to carry concealed.

That's not the most common use of firearms though. Self defense and sporting are. The most common rate of suicide is overdoses. Firearms haven't caught up to that rate.

There's a standard force continuum we all follow. Peoples actions also contribute to use of force. BUT, and this is a big but, when there is a perceived firearm then things change. In the dark, moving hands back and forth between the waistband is dangerous.

It's not though. Don't pick out parts of what I said, when your life or the lives of others are in *immediate* danger. If you're afraid for your life or the lives of others then you take steps to neutralize the threat. In the dark it is much harder to see what someone has in their hands and from...
No actually I wasn't. I meant what I said although I should have used the words neutralize the threat. And that does NOT mean only taking lethal action. You take action one step higher than the threat, depending on the type of threat.

It depends on the situation. The one officer behind him was the shooter, to him it seemed that the other officers lives were in danger because of the motions the man was making.
How they're trained is if they feel their life or the lives of others are in immediate danger to take action...
Yeah but open carry is common here in Wichita. We're a constitutional carry State. You don't even have to have a CCW here to carry concealed but a lot of folks carry open, including black people. Wichita police haven't shot any of them. I know, I'm black. I don't open carry unless I'm in uniform...
