What is the pencil trick?

I am not an expert on "AMD" products but I believe their new chips can't be overclocked using the multiplier due to the removal of the pins. Therefore using the lead of a pencil to make the connection won't work.:( I would send a link if I could remember were it was I read it.

looking for pci card cooler

Slot coolers are perfect solutions that don't cost a lot of money. They do advertise that they draw a lot air, that is not necessarily true. But again they are cheap and work.

Has anyone installed ME over 98?

Upgraded Win98SE to WINME with no problems except that it was trying to give me a second keyboard. The problem was fixed after I deleted the two keyboards and restarted. I do see some errors and illegal function warnings more often. Actually a lot more often than with WIN98. Plus I have a...

I did a similiar post and found that it uses a considerable amount of physical ram to run QIII. I guess my question is, has anyone found a tweak to prevent WINME from using a lot of resources and ram?

I have no applications in the startup. Also all the programs you install tend to love to put them in the initial windows start which is not needed.

I usually don't run anything on my machine. All the start up items from my system config are far and few between i.e. scanregistry, systemtray, loadpowerprofile, vshwin32exe, vsstatexe, vsecomrexe, vshwin32exe and that is it. I've searched the web and so far can't come up with a reason why...

Windows ME and Memory

Windows ME, at least mine is using a lot of memory. Currently 256mb of physical memory and 55mb of physical memory free as specified by Sandra Sys. Anyone else experience this? Is there a regedit or fix for it? I get low memory warnings while playing QIII.

what is the best reg clean program and system optimizer?

I use two programs regclean.exe and regmaid.exe both downloadable through microsoft for free. As for system optimizing I don't use any program and do all mine through the registry.

WinME vs. Win98SE

Try to get ME. It is an upgrade to Win 98SE with some new gui interfaces and "hidden dos" functions. I've tried both and will purchase ME when it is final.
