    I believe that's based (in part) on the Wi-Fi data that google records during its Street View photo-taking drives. I've had the Maps app on my iPod track me on the road without actually having an active Internet connection while traveling (only connected prior to going out).

    You should have 3 mouse buttons, if your Thinkpad is anything like the ones I've owned. Hold the middle one down, and you should be able to use the trackpoint for scrolling.

    Correct. It's not the location of the phone that matters, it's the area code (and possibly exchange) of the phone number that matters. Likewise, an out-of-state cellphone could be in a local area and calls to it would count as long-distance calls.

    Beyond TV (http://www.snapstream.com/products/beyondtv/) will do that. Works pretty well, from my limited experience with the program. Don't know if it'll work with your tuner or not, but they have a free trial that you can install to see if you like the program before buying it.

    It's not that formatting the drive causes the "loss" of capacity. It's due to the way the manufacturers label the drives, as the posters above have already stated. To a manufacturer, one "GB" is 1,000,000,000 bytes. Operating systems see one "GB" as 1,073,741,824 bytes.
