laptop show white screen for a sec, then NOTHING

Hello and thanks for any ideas. This is a laptop whose screen will only go on for a quick second (it actually just shows a 1/2 sec burst of white), then black screen. I can hook up an external monitor and everything works. I thought it was the screen, but replacing it had the same effect...

once i drain the power, it boots just fine. i just spoke with the client, and they said they've already changed the battery and it didn't help. what could be the cause of needing power drains to boot?

replaced PS and MB on hp 6300 microtower and STILL no boot?

so, would it safe to assume that the replacement MB i got was also screwed up? the only things connected are the PS and MB, and i couldn't get it to show anything on the MB vga, that's why i put in the vid card, and the card's fan wouldn't move.

that's where i get a headache...EVERYTHING is unplugged from the MB including RAM. only the PS and monitor is hooked up to the MB's video plug. when that didn't work, i put in a card for the monitor, but the fan did not spin, indicating no power.

asus ux302l how to incorporate onboard SSD w/ HDD change
