USB flashdrive + windows ME?

Agreed. I've had to install drivers to get Win98 to recognize a couple of different USB drives. If I'm not mistaken WinME was built on the Win98 Kernel.

Data transfer from one computer to another

Personally, I would use option #2 and copy all the files (not just the ones you think you might need) to DVD. Should fit on 2 dvds if you used Ghost to do the backup.

Printer issues

the wife loves the HP photosmart 8150 for printing/editing her snapshots, but maybe you're including it in the "wide format model". It's currently $150 at Amazon. She also has a photosmart 130 which was unacceptable (to her).

Printer issues

Are the print heads removable? I have a xerox printer and dried up ink had clogged the print heads. I was able to unclog the print heads with a little rubbing alcohol and water. Found the fix for mine with a few google searches.

Yes, it's a 4C. I got it a couple of years ago on ebay with the ADF. I don't believe it will work with XP, though.

FREE eBay sniping software

I've used auctionsniper for some time and have been very pleased with the results: auctionsniper I believe that the first 3 winning bids are free; then, they charge a fee based on the final bid amount. If all sellers were honest, sniping would be unnecessary. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

DVD burning problem

The media should be ok. Check the IDE controller Transfer Settings to make sure that "DMA if Available" is highlighted from Control Panel==>System==>Device Manager. If that setting is OK or doesn't help, you could also try deleting the IDE controller and re-installing.

I picked up a 50 pack of -R's today; they were made in Japan. Staples.com was out of stock, but the B&M store will PM the internet price. Decent price for great media.

Blockbuster Free One Month Trial

I did the free trial at Blockbuster and also have a Netflix account. Virtually anything I put in my que at Blockbuster has "Long Wait". Gonna cancel and stick with Netflix.

The Philips I've had in the past were CMC Mag discs, but I think they were +R's. I had trouble with them in a couple of different players. Never used Ritek, but the MXL, MCC and TY have worked flawlessly in all players.

Borrow one. Buy a used one off ebay. I think I have a used one if you want to PM me. I would consider a cartridge type DVD-RAM drive for backup. The cartridge would protect the media. You could pick up a cartridge-type drive such as this : Text and put it into an external usb/firewire...

Try copying the DVD to your HD using dvddecrypter, then create a backup from the HD.

DVD Copy Question

If you copy the DVD with DVDShrink, there is an option to remove regional coding, but like styrafoam said you still won't be able to play it if your player does not support PAL. It will play but the video will be distorted. There are a number of easily hackable set top players out there that...
