Turn off Smart Network Switch on WIFI settings. I also have S5 and when it turn on, it eats battery since it tries to get stronger signal of WIFI or LTE.

It happened to me when I updated to Lollipop for my S5. What happened here, I think, the system updates Google Play services. After it's done, apps can be downloaded as normal.

I'm using some of them I found useful for my needs like My AT&T, Visual Voicemail and YP Mobile. I disabled the rest of them and they haven't bothered me since.
