Windows 98 startup problem

Well, if the registry is what is corrupt, I would try going to a command prompt instead of safe mode, then type "scanreg /restore" (without the quotes, of course), and try out one or more of the recent registry backups.. If that doesn't work you're probably looking at reinstalling Windows98...

Christians and Tattoos?

I agree with many on here who say it is a personal thing between you and God. I don't believe that the actual placing of a tattoo on you would be a sin. What matters is how it affects your relationship with Christ. If your heart is right with God and getting a tattoo will not affect that...

New AMD SiS Board with integrated video, ect. $85 plus shipping.

gotta be careful getting a board like this. Even though cheap, it could have compatibility issues, especially with USB. Non-intel chipsets oftentimes have many usb chipset problems, SiS being one of the worst IMHO (I do tech support for a lot of usb devices).

CDROM works, then it doesn't. WHY

I have to agree with Blackhawks, definitely could be a virus.. There's a lot of them that will infect your master boot record and prevent your cdrom/ide controllers from functioning properly

Computer turns back on when shut off

Mats122, using Epson photo paper will not give you good results with HP printers. HP and epson formulate their paper and their ink differently and so using one's photo paper on the other's printer will not look good. Choosing "other photo papers" in the driver properties will help...

regardless of whether or not you have a hotkey set to turn on your system, the power button should still work.. anyway, there's no difference between a "windows 98 keyboard" and a "windows 95 keyboard".. although who knows, you might still need to follow whoopini's instructions

What is the best Mousepad color for an optical mouse?

With an optical mouse, a darker surface will work better.. actually since it is a tiny camera it is taking thousands of pictures, a surface with varying colors will work great, ie a mouse pad with a picture on it

you might wanna try getting a firmware update from plextor (www.plextor.com). They seem to put them out pretty fast and I'm sure there should be a least one for your drive (installing the newest firmware will do everything the old firmware updates did, you only have to run the latest one).

Hey an even cooler way to get a zip drive far cheaper (if you have a local B&M Staples), is just find a zip drive cheap somewhere, say pricewatch, then print it out, take it in and have them pricematch it there for ya.. Worked great for me!
