Anyone ever replace the voltage regulator on a motherboard before?

I hope that it might be so easy. But the regulator doesn't look to be. It appears to be soldered on by two leads as well as the entire base. But I don't know yet....which is the purpose of this thread :D

Anyone ever replace the voltage regulator on a motherboard before?

I recently purchased an AX6BC with this defect (I only paid $6) for the purpose of possibly repairing said regulator, and maybe even coming out with a good motherboard. Has anyone ever done such a procedure? If so, lemme know! Thanks :D

computer doesnt detect scanner, can't install

When you plug in the power, try turning the scanner on. If it can't power on (it should, regardless of whether or not it's connected to a computer), then it may have perished. I'm assuming it does turn on, though, so the next step is asking if you've made sure to run the New Hardware Wizard...

Why is windows not recognizing my hard drive as 40gig? Says its only 5.5 gig

Hmm...there's something else you could try. It's possible that Windows simply refuses to update its driver database to show that your hard drive is 45GB. Did you formerly have a 6GB in this system and copy Windows over to this new hard drive? Also, have you tried running Scandisk yet...

I'd have to say sohcrates hit the nail on the head for ya. One thing I'll add is that, yes, you can use that video card, but the MX200's are by far the least-powered GeForce2's available. I think that if you spent a little extra money for an ATi Radeon LE, you'd get better performance, but...

How do I turn an internal hard drive into an external one

You're on the right track. There are several companies that manufacture external drive enclosures. If you search the For Sale/Trade forums for things like 'scsi enclosure', you'll find items like this, which should be exactly what you're looking for.

That's interesting...What you might consider doing, instead of splitting your line, is to use your modem as a coupler. Most any modem has two plugs: line and phone. The line coming from the wall goes into the line plug, and the line running to your phone obviously goes to the phone plug...

Trouble getting 160M/s transfer rate with SCA adaptor

Well, from the looks of it, those adapters aren't really U160 compatible, but really only U2W compatible (which just happens to be 80mbps). I'd say your best bet would be to get an adapter from an actual retailer (online, probably) because then you can get a refund if it doesn't comply fully...

Are Creative DVD-ROMs flashable to region-free?

Oh yeah, BTW...I downloaded DVD Genie, but there's a catch - I am using a Dxr2, not any software decoders. According to the DVD Genie's feature list, it's for software players. And there's nothing in the config menu about Creative stuff....
