Actually you are both wrong. I bought a standalone Tivo there about 2 months ago and then decided to go with DTV and returned it within a week. I still got the rebate check this week.
I currently have a lexmark Z65 that prints well and fast, but it is costing me a fortune in ink. I heard Epson has the cheapest ink, but I am looking for something to print text and web pages, but no photos. The biggest concern is ink cost. Anyone know what would be best?
I have two 40gig Maxtor's mirrored on a Silicon Image 0680 RAID card. Everything was up and running fine until I pulled the RAID card out and re-seated it. Now when it starts to boot it gets a message that says something to the effect of "Windows config file 'C:\windows\system32\.....' is...
If I can't add remote users to the Admin group then how can I access user profiles on another computer? I have unchecked the "Make this folder private" button on all profiles on each local machine, but when I try to view the profiles I get an access is denied message.
I have 2 pc's on a workgroup and I want the user accounts on both pc's to have admin rights on the workgroup. I have tried going into control panel>computer management>local users and groups>groups>administrators, but it only allows me to add local names. How do I set this?
Thanks!
My start menu is blacked out. I can't see any of the choices until I run the cursor over them and then just that selection looks normal. I have reinstalled XP and tried multiple versions of the Detonator drivers. Anyone else have this problem?
I loaded XP with Power Management disabled in the BIOS and it didn't install ACPI. When I try to shut the computer down it goes to the "It's now safe to restart your computer" screen instead of shutting down. I have on-board video on this box and so when it gets to this screen the display is...
I was defragging my HDD last night and left it running overnight. This morning when I got up it was emitting long beeps continuously. I rebooted it and it doesn't boot or display anything on the screen. I have reseated all the cards, but it still won't boot. It's got the AWARD BIOS if anyone...
I need to zip a large file on a remote machine on my network so I can copy it faster. Does anyone know the syntax of the command?
I have tried AT \\MachineName 12:13 cmd /c "C:\utils\zip.exe -ex -r C:\file.zip c:\file.doc"
This will do everything you are looking for. There is a trial version, but the registered version gives you additional features that are worth spending $13 on.

Not neccessarily. I'm running 1Gb of Crucial PC1600 and when I scan pictures at 2400x1200 it uses all of it plus half a gig of the page file.
Some boards have jumpers to set the fsb and some change in the BIOS, but you really need to read up on OC'ing before doing it. It's sux to learn the hard way when it's on a >$200 chip.
Is there a way to delete unwanted folders on the Folder list for Outlook XP? I would like to delete the folders like Calendar, Notes, and Tasks but they don't have a delete option when I right click.
Also, have you ever heard of the .pst and .pab files just disappearing? When I opened Outlook...

I have seen several posts in the past about WinME that say System Restore=bloat and will slow your system down. I am running XP Pro and decided to benchmark it both ways to find out. With 3Dmark2001 SE and PCMark2002 I did not gain any additional performance from disabling System Restore. As far...
