Discussion Half of the Core "gens" have all been Skylake

It's kinda silly to say that Skylake was a bad core and we didn't noticed because AMD was worse.. because both are literally 99.99% of the x86 market and all of the servers/home computing market.

Pretty sue the skylake engineers are quite proud as their core is on huge chunk of the X86 market and will be for the next 4-5 years (My 8700 wont need replacing anytime soon)

Seems weird. Base clock from 1.3 -> 2.8 on 15W and from 2.3 -> 3 at 28W? Those numbers does not make sense on same node.

Oh interesting. So making it 8 way associative will make it slower to search specific cache line because there are double the sets? If so , how can you make the L1 bigger and keep same timing?
