Connecting multiple IPs through one modem

Why do you need a cross over cable? I use a straight-through cable with no problems. Or does your hub not have an option for using either stright or crossover? Mine does, thats why I went with the straight cable, already had it on hand.

Connecting multiple IPs through one modem

I have two IP's assigned to my cable modem. They are subject to change at anytime, so they are dynamic, yes it is DHCP, if they were permanent they would be static. My line gives me xxx for bandwidth, doesnt matter if I have 1 IP or 10 IP's, same pipe. ISP is Road Runner in Texas

I have two IP's and run a 10mb hub off the cable modem. See the Network Diagram for details. All cables are stright-through.

Playing with a Kingston 5 port hub and.......

I use my Kingston 5 port hub right off of the cable modem, I use all stright thru cables and the hub is set to = on the side switch. Uplink cable from the modem is plugged into port 5. See my Network diagram for details, the 5 port 10mb hub in the diagram is the kingston hub.

WANT TO SHARE YOUR BROAD BAND CONNECTION? read this.

Here is a network that works for me, check it out.network I basically ran it this way because I needed two computers to have seperate IP's so my Son and I could play games online at the same site at the same time AND still have my internal LAN.

Also make sure that in IE you have it set to use a LAN and automatically detect settings. I have 5 computers connected via a linsys 4 port router and a link sys 4 port hub. OS's are Win 2k, Win me, Win 98se, and Linux. All using DHCP.

problem using ICS (Internet connection sharing) from win me --ICQ

Well my fix was to just go into the ICQ connection settings and change it to "Behind a firewall" and adjust the time out to 80. Worked for me.

Linksys router and Quake III Arena

I have the linksys 4 port router plugged directly into the modem and I can play on any Q3 server, my son on his system (using the same router and connection)can play on any Q3 server at the same time, just not the same game. I didnt do any thing special, just dhcp and no dmz or ip forwarding.

Athlon 750/950 Classic + Soyo Slot A board + CPU HSF for $149/199 @ TigerDirect

Choosing a dual-cpu Slot-1 motherboard...

I am running the Tiger 100 with dual 500's and have had no problem. I basically use mine as a home server, it does occsional cd burning, music ripping, printing, games server hosting, ect. Before that I used it as my main machine for gaming, never had a problem.

Single Processor on a Dual Processor Motherboard

Not sure about that particular board, but my Tyan Tiger 100 did not require a terminator card. I ran a single processor for a month or so. No I use it as my server with dual P3 500's and 324 mb memory. Nice little home server.

There are a lot of factors in Overclocking. My last board was a Soyo K7VIA KX133 with a T-bird 800 and it would not take a GFD, I had to go 8 x 115 for 920 and 1.80 v. My new board, an Asus K7V-T with the 800 and a FSP GFD will do 9.5 x 107 for 1022 mhz but I had to jump to 1.95v. It would do...

Dual Processor question: Will any chip do for the second one?

It all depends on the MB and BIOS. It is not recommended and if you get one to work it would be the exception rather than the norm. I have a Tyan Tiger 100 with dual PIII 500's, same stepping.

What are safe voltages for a TBird

As seen below bumping up a Slot A T-Bird wont hurt. I had mine running at 1000 mhz @ 1.95v and have had it as high as 2.00v I just couldnt get it 100% stable so I backed it down. Running fine at the stats below. The VOS32 helps too. Running 39c under full load of RC5.
