It's probably not as crisp because you'r enot running in a native resolution. You're going to run into that problem no matter WHAT LCD you have.

I wouldn't go with the 3286's if I were you.. Last I heard, they were Radeon 8500 only (they're what I'm running on my 8500..) Check www.rage3d.com for the newest drivers for your card.

Video Cable for TV Out

If you want to put output audio, then you're going to have to take a cable from your sound card to your TV. If you have a normal soundcard with just regular old headphone outputs, then you're going to have to go to radio shack and buy a mini-jack to RCA converter. You can use these RCA ends...

DVI and Flat Panal question

Turn off cleartype. It only serves to make text fuzzy, and I can't understand why anyone would use it. I LIKE the sharpness of my LCD.. no need to artificially make the text look bad. As for the problem with CS.. I've run into that problem before in games.. but not in a really long time...

3d glasses like.. the ones with a red eye and a blue eye used for old 3d books? Or do you mean the headsets that run video a little offset to make games look 3d? I thought they served as their own monitor.

Some radeon 7500/8500 questions

Think of it this way, if you know much about nVidia chips: The Radeon 7500 is a GeForce2 Ultra (though I believe it performs worse than an ultra, this is an analogy) The Radeon 8500 is a GeForce3. They're very different. Your "one is clocked higher" should be Radeon 64megDDR->Radeon 7500...

need a dual monitor system, but...

You also might look into a monitor that has BNC cables on it. BNC's main advantage is that it can run a LOT farther than standard monitor cable. However, my friend ran into a problem where his BNC-connected monitor wouldn't detect in Windows because the monitor can't talk back to the computer...

Radeon 8500 Dual Display

When I did it, with my LCD as primary and CRT as secondary, I unchecked "display modes this monitor cannot do" or whatever in the Monitor tab of the advanced menu. Chose 85 for my CRT, then clicked okay. Now when I go back, the MONITOR tab says it's running at 60, but the Displays tab says...

Color scheme for cat5 crimping?

Probably to reduce crosstalk by using the twisted pairs more effectively. And also so the crossover works correctly. I guess.

Both the "Brown Orange Blue Green" and "Brown Green Blue Orange" schemes are standards. It's really your choice as to which one you want to use if you're going "by the books" Most people I find like the ones everyone else here has listed, though I prefer the color scheme that you (xWeston)...

Best 2D card?

A lot of people will tell you Matrox cards (do those have DVI? I've never had one..) But my Radeon 8500 runs my LCD at top notch quality. A 7500 would too, would be cheaper, and would still run your games nicely (unlike a Matrox..)

That's Composite out. Component is the three cables (very high quality, better than S-Video.. composite is lower than S-Video) I don't know if it does or not, though..

Individual pixels aren't visible at all unless you pretty much jam your face right in the laptop screen. Choosing large icons or large system fonts will get rid of the "Everything being WAY too tiny" factor.. and besides, most people keep laptop monitors a lot close to their face that regular...

I had a Radeon LE before I switched to my 8500. I absolutely loved that card. Got it for $73 shipped from newegg in July, unlocked it and overclocked it to retail speeds, and BAM, I had an asskicking card for very cheap. I'd highly recommend that you try overclocking your card. Mine went up...

While I can see a difference if I look close enough (small images like thumbnails look nicer, I can see more compression artifacts on .jpgs) I really don't think it would be worth buying a new video card over. If your card already had DVI I'd say go ahead and buy a cable, but if you have to buy...

Replacement fan for Thermaltake 6Cu+ ?

Check out this thread.. I really think adding a larger fan will help you out more than buying another 60mm, as its loud because its spinning fast. Anything quieter won't cool as good.

I really doubt the laptop fan would be 40 or 50mm.. that's HUGE! My Inspiron 8000 looks like it has 25-30mm fans.. I've never seen them for sale anywhere, though.. Have you tried the manufacturer?

You can't use MMC7.5 with the TV-Wonder.. or at least, it's not recommended. DirectX8->Video card drivers (try the 7189's on ATi site or the 9008's on rage3d.com)->TV Wonder WDM files that are included with MMC7.1->MMC7.1 After that, check out Dscaler for the TV Wonder.. the quality is a LOT...

What is the best video card that supports 2 monitiors?

What OS are you using? When using Win2k (though I'm not sure about 9x) you'll have to run them as if they were one huge monitor (as in, same refresh, res). It's a limitation with the OS, as dual monitors on one card isn't supported properly in Win2k. Matrox gets around this by tricking...

Need Recommendations for bad case and PSU

Check out THIS Genica ATX case. Made out of something that resembles spraypainted tinfoil, with a junky little 250W power supply. The 3.5" drive bay is something like 3.65 inches wide, so you will only be able to get the very tips of your screws in the drives without having to bow the tinfoil...

Dscalar works beautifully on ati tvwonder

When you get the card do not install whatever comes on the install CD. TV Wonder PCI is a bit aging, and the CD I got with mine was MMC 2.5. That totally didn't work on my 98 install, and I doubt it even knew what 2k or XP was. Just download MMC7.1 (anything else won't work with the TV...
