Good point. Of course, the reason I didn't care was because I'm not going to be doing any gaming. I'm switching back to a PowerBook, so this computer is only for text-based sims and poker. :) SC420 on the VGA and 12" PB on the DVI.... :)
Thanks for the responses.
I just bought both the SC420 server and the 20" 2005FPW widescreen LCD. Unfortunately, I didn't do my research, because the 8 MB integrated video can't handle the 2005FPW's native 1680x1050 resolution. Is there any way I can override the standard VGA adapter to handle the resolution, or should I...
I want a laptop stand like this one. I've googled a bit and can't find any comprehensive reviews of the range of existing products.
Do any of you use a similar stand? If so, what do you use and do you like it?
I've just purchased a 5" Extra Firm Foam base from JC Penney (with a 20% off code). I went to check eBay for Mark's 1/2 Price Bedding (reigle3), and there are no auctions from him. That seems strange. What would be the best alternative for a topper?
Hey guys, if any of you can give me a tip here, I'd appreciate it. Google provided no assistance.
I have an Inspiron 8600 lappy. I also had a desktop machine. Both run XP Pro. I took the HD out of the desktop and put it in an external 3.25 enclosure and hooked it up to my lappy via USB 2.0...
broohaha: That is a common problem that can be fixed... search the other Dell thread.
Too bad on the CSR: I thought something was up... he said he had been getting a lot of phone calls. I am sure that you can get another CSR to apply the coupon code (which can be found at Chunkywallet) and give...

Circuit City B&M stores are clearing out their stock of Apples. I just got an open box, full-warranty iBook 600 mHz CR-RW/DVD for $1009 plus tax. It retails for $1499.
Call your B&M Circuit City and ask about their remaining iBook stock. Some people have gotten brand new iBooks for the same...

Yeah, I upgraded to the 40 gb drive and apparently got a 7200 RPM drive. The system is still poking along, though. Starting up Outlook and IE on my old machine took less than a second. The Dell takes about 2 secs for each.
Thanks for the info, guys.
Anybody else disappointed with the hard drive performance? I can't find a diagnostic program on the web to tell me if the HD is 5400 or 7200 RPM, but it sure pokes along like a 5400. My Thunderbird 800 mHz with 196 MB PC 133 RAM and a 7200 ATA-66 hard drive snaps so much faster than this...

<< Anyone know what the normal "Monthly Specials" are that they run for the DVD club? I'm in their VIdeo club (but haven't ordered anything in a very logn time). They usually do a Buy 1 movie at 19.99 get on half off or something like that. But since I can get most movies for under $10 at...
<< i have recently been reading through the threads at dvdtalk and don't think the free dvd with referrel works for all codes. in fact your friend won't get as good a deal. someone pointed out there that it'd be better to just ask your friend for one of his dvds for introducing him to dvdtalk :)...
Having been around these forums for a while, I know this deal gets posted a few times per year. However, I did a search and could not find a post referencing this deal except in the archives (November 2001 last post). Since we get new members all the time, and this IS one of the hottest deals...

LOL. Tell us how the "AnandTech effect" works for you. :D
BTW, I am finding this discussion of bandwidth pricing fascinating. I would appreciate hearing where I can learn more about this stuff.
