    e4300 temps @ 3.1

Are you using CoreTemp to measure temperature? If not, install it, so we have the same starting point. There must be something wrong with your heatsink or the way you have mounted it. 1.) Are you using thermal paste and the right amount (which is as thin as posible) 2.) Is the fan...

how long before we see truly realistic environments in games?

The problem is, no one will recognize this revolutionary graphics by then, because they will only be evolutionary :D For the real shocking moments one would need a time machine (or reinstall "revolutionary" high end graphics games like Strike Commander or Doom :o

    E4300 OR E6400????

I bought a 4300 and cheap G.Skill DDR2-800 CL5 instead of the 6400 with Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 CL4 (or better) and am happily cruising @3.3GHz (8*413 CL4) at 1.45V infinitely Orthos stable. Where i live, this translated into savings of about 150$. Wether a 6400 combo would have reached 3.5 GHz...

    High temperatures on E6600

If you are using it at stock voltage and have applied good thermal paste the right way, there only remains the heatsink. What model are you using? Even the stock cooler should provide lower temps when not overclocked.

    Rainbow Six: Vegas

It's a great game on the PC platform. I have not had a single crash or anomaly (haha, i am so much waiting for STALKER to be released :D , and i have greatly enjoyed this excellent game. I have to admit though, that my P4@3.3GHz with 6800 Ultra cold not handle this game at any...

    4GB is coming.

There is no free lunch :D Whoever switches to Vista now should (hopefully) not do it for higher 3DMark scores or lower system requirements, but for Superfetch, the flashy new Aero GUI and for the joy of playing around with new technology. In a few months or a year from now however the...

C2D build for moderate overclocking. Advice?

    I have built the following system (8h+ Orthos stable oc'ed) and think it is a very good compromise between 95% performance and money: Asus P5B-E E4300 @ 1.45V @ 3300MHz (8x413MHz FSB) 2GB kit G.Skill PC6400 CL5 @ 826MHz 4-4-4-10 Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B idle 30C, full Orthos load 60C

    Seti@home 3.03?

Assimilator was so kind to provide me with the necessary files, and i want to share my findings with you :) E4300@3.3GHz, 413 MHz FSB, DDR2@826MHz I could get it stable at about 3700@1.6V with temps in the low 70's, maybe i will rebench later. 2 clients running, each finished in 50...

    Another Habu problem

After having dealt with the initial firmware/driver problems through updating with the Copperhead software, my Habu seemed to run well. Yesterday though i noticed, that every time i start up XP, the standard HID driver is loaded and NOT the Habu's, which results in lower polling rate (125KHz...

    E6300 or E4300

I "only" came to 3.3 Orthos stable@1.45V. Temps are 65 full load with a Scythe Ninja, when i go to 1.5V, i am over 70.So keep in mind, that most review sites tested their samples at maximum voltages which are imho not practical for everyday use without watercooling.

    E4300 Overclocks?

Because thoses semiconducotrs are all silicon based and should therefore have similar attributes when it comes to temperature. There definitely is an upper barrier. It is rather difficult to get some hard facts on that though, because of the different methods used (BIOS, Coretemp etc.), but...

    e4300

I don't think newer boards that can do 500+MHz could be limiting for the E4300. Even backing down to an 8x multiplier gets you to 4GHz, certainly no E4300 can do this under normal conditions. Cheaper memory is limiting imho, most people wanting to save some money will fall back to DDR2-667 or...

Asus P5B-E in single channel mode???

Hi, i have just installed 2 1024MB G.Skill Rams in my new Asus P5B-E motherboard. I used "Channel A", the two (one black, one yellow) slots nearer to the CPU socket. Is that wrong, as BIOS lists the memory as running in single channel mode? Do i have to use equally colored slots in...

    Overclocking e4300 on stock hsf......

The problem is you never know... I have read several reviews/overclocking tests, some 4300s went to 2200MHz@stock others right up to 3GHz. I think generally the consensus is, that 4300 reacts very well to raising vcore, so you will only get stellar overclocks with vcore at 1.4V+. I don't...

    What memory for E4300 overclock

While i concur with you, that 3.6 GHz is likely to be a little too high (BUT i want to be prepared memory-wise) i have not read a single review with really disappointing oc success. Anandtech and X-Bit labs both reached 3.4 GHz without significant problems, so why should i expect anything...

    What memory for E4300 overclock

Here are some interesting pages on latencies and clock speeds: X-Bit labs bandwidth vs. latency Bottom line: for the most part differences between DDR2-800 CL4 and CL5 are in the 0-3% region and not worth the immense extra cost for budget E4300 overclockers imho. @Cheex: You sure have... :D
