The heatsink is definitely not getting that hot to the touch, although it's a little hard to tell since the Panaflo is blowing directly down through it. But I don't think it's a problem of heat transfer from the CPU to the heatsink, I've now cleaned, regooped with a carefully applied thin layer...

thanks darkfiber. RAID is definitely disabled in the BIOS, and since it hangs trying to boot into windows, I don't think I can easily upgrade the firmware. I'll have to try putting the drive into another box to upgrade the firmware, I guess... It's wierd that the BIOS recognizes the drive...

Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI SATA problem

the key was getting the SATA drive to be shown as a selection in the Bootable Addin Device window. I then re-did the windows setup, and this time when it rebooted after completing the DOS portion of the setup it successfully booted from the SATA and continued with the windows portion of setup.

"What you really need to do is seperate the term Cat-5/6 which refers to a cable specification and other terms I haven't heard yet besides "recepticle". That would be RJ-45, RJ-11, etc... Those refer to connector types. There's no reason you can't put a RJ-45 connector on both Cat-5 and Cat-6...

Have you ever listened to the Cambridge Megaworks? I have owned the Soundworks, which were the $100 satellite and sub offering from years ago. Even now, I prefer their sound for music to the Altec Lansings I also have.

Q] imho they sound muddled compared the klipsch. and not as clear at loud volumes. for gaming they are great tho, music not so much. I have a set of Altec Lansing 2.1 that I would describe in just the same way. No midbass at all, great for games, but no match for the Cambridge Soundworks...
