Advice re: Duron 750 OC setup

I have my Duron 750 running at 966 (7*138) on MSI Turbo (vcore 1.85). I can get 933 (7*133) at 1.77 volts. It wouldn't boot into Windows at 1000 (7.5*133). Definitely connect L7's for a default vcore of 1.85; you can always lower the voltage in the bios but you'll probably need a vcore of...

Duron 750

Also try connecting the L7 bridges for a default vcore of 1.85 You might need that extra kick to get your cpu going.

How much Arctic Silver is too much?

Thanks for all the help :) . I got a FOP32-1 clip, re-applied my AS (enough to cover the core, no AS over the edge of the core) and got a big temp drop. I think most of the temp drop was due to greater pressure from the Fop clip.

I see it in 16 bit mode and only in CS. Have you managed to fix your problem, Hanky?

I can only use 4-way inter. if it's set to SPD in the MSI bios. Definitely better performance this way. I take it you have the KT7a? What CPU are you using? BTW, what's Project|G|??? I guess there is really no need to OC the video card if CS is smooth.

Life expectancy of an Overclocked CPU

MSI K7T Turbo BIOS v2.5 (NON BETA)

Has anyone tried the overclocker bios to get the lower multipliers? I'm using the overclockers bios, have the lower multipliers, and the multipliers are correct (7*133 = 933 and 7.5*133 = 1000) but I have a Duron 750. I wonder if it's a T-bird problem?

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into a fan. I'll try those video card setting after work. I've tried CS at default video card settings too. It runs fine. I tried 205/195 with Q3 Arena lasy night and I didn't see any artifacts. Maybe it only occurs in CS? Actually, I only see white specks...

Can I skip the 'pencil trick' and just FSB-OC?

There are no guarantees that a 700 (7 x 100) will run at 7 X 133. What you might need to do is give it a voltage boost at startup. If that's the case you'd need to connect the L7 bridges, and if you're going to connect the L7s you might as well join the L1 bridges while you're at it.

Unlock now or later?

Unlock it now. Take you time when you do your bridges and make sure you do a good job so you won't have to remove the HSF again.

K7T Turbo switch to 266FSB problem

I already have MBM installed. Thanks for the tip anyway. :) The last time I tried for 933 I got a system.ini error or something like that. I'll try it again after I backup some of my data (mp3's :) ). I'm not as worred about the voltage as much now that idle temp is lower. I'll go for 933...

I got my replacement FOP clip today. I re-installed the clip, re-applied the AS and found that my CPU temp. dropped 8-9 degrees C! I wonder how much of the temp drop is due to the clip and not a thinner layer of AS???

I think the FOP clip will apply more pressure to the CPU, and provide better contact for heat transfer. I'm not sure how much better it would be vs the clip I'm using now. Hopefully, I'll get the FOP clip in the mail tomorrow and I'll be able to test it out. I think I may also have applied...

Joeblo 123: Have you tried to run your Turbo-R at 133 FSB? Do you loose the 7-9 multipliers when the board is set for 133 FSB? I am debating if I should flash to the O/C bios. I am still using the bios that came with the board. Any suggestions?

Check out this link for info from MSI and Orangedelta for more info. The Orangedelta site gives info for the Pro2a but the setting should be similar for the Turbo.

Palomino, the 8KTA3, and the K7T Turbo

I'm not sure about the Palamino support but I do know that I'm a cheap a$$. :) I bought the Turbo because it was cheaper. If you get a KT133a board, will you want, for example, a KT266 board when it comes out? If you do, save a few bucks now and use it later.

So too much AS is no good? How much difference would the pressure of a clip make??? Are there any comparisons of the FOP32-1 with the original clip and a clip from another (older) HSF? Mikewarrior: Is CPU temp 40 deg. C and System temp 21 deg C "normal"?
