Wow, thanks Beatnik, Kartajan, regnez, alimoalem,
Those last several posts are invaluable on this topic.
I definitely do not need prospective concerns in the networking area.
Thanks very much,
J
Well, surprising as it is, this is just what I was thinking about with a very soon purchase to be made. I would be interested, also, in comments and thoughts on this.
Wow, this is what I have just been having trouble with. I did a search and found this posting, thank you. Would a senior Tech Guru be so kind as to respond with an answer or proposal, if possible ?
I just spotted this, and it is something that is exactly what I tried in the past and gave up on, finally. If anyone has a resolution, it would be dandy.
Also - if Win2K pro will accept the

Please forgive my ignorance, but whay does one do for the controller card aspect. This drive is above the limit of around 125 gigs - or 135 gigs for usual motherboards and would need a separate controller card, would it not ?
Again, sorry if this is a dumb question, but any leads would help
Kind of amazing, but this series of specs is so close to my interests, also. Perhaps your less than ideal title of this post did not serve you well to get much in the way of response. I am not a motherboard expert but would love to see what the hot guys here would have to say.
Kingofcomputer,
That is good advice. Strange as it may sound, there is also a prohibition regarding black monitors in the mind of a certain someone, (not me) and that has to be worked around. The Dell's seem to be black. The Samsung's have silver ones available. I know it sounds sacrilegious in...
The plot thickens,
Thanks, RichieZ
PinchyCM - it would be very interesting to me if you could elaborate a touch on the value you find with and using DVI ........
Thanks in advance,
K
"It seems all your paying for is the little bit better resolution for that small a monitor."
Zerosleep,
This is starting to light up the ol' cones and rods and smell up the ol' nose bud olfactory.
This is the bloodhound on the trail that I am after.
I am amply familiar with CRTs (standard...
Bigshooter, very interesting, it is perhaps an older review, but it is helpful, particularly in that the Princeton SENergy 751 costs $769.00 and the Samsung 171P (PC Mag's Editor's Choice) only costs $772.00,
I note that a very good and reputable On-Line store has the:

I saw this posting, and, to my surprise, it aligns exactly with my present intent and interest. I am surious as to recommendations here.

RalfHutter, you are exactly correct. that is precisely (4-5 seconds) what takes place. I have several older form cases in the garage, I should be able to remove the on/off switches and see if I can jumper only the pins for the on/off on the Biostar M7VIG. Then the 4-5 seconds factor should not...
Thanks, RalfHutter,
It would seem the best way, since there is an on/off switch right on the Power Supply, would be to short the two power switch pins permanently and use the on/off on the PS to power up and down, at least until the proper on/off switch is acquired.
Make sense ?
Thanks, to this point, guys. I have a MB, CPU, ram soon to put in a case that cost a good bit a while back. Addtronics does seem to be a good lead. I appreciate that.
Actually this second case has a power supply with its own on / off button - at the rear of the case, ON the power supply...
I am looking for a site for purchase of case on/off switches, etc.
For the life of me I have spent hours and hours trying to find a site which sells parts such as the on off switch and the wires with jumpers on the end that stream off of it.
That seems to be what is problematic with a nice...
Less than 2 minutes ago I someone told me that there is an opinion that the Airport X Ray machines are damaging the batteries or battery systems in notebooks. That would not seem to relate the fact that the notebook will not show characters on the screen, but it is an interesting lead.
Could someone assist us in uninstalling the Exchange installation under the Outlook 2000 installation that we have mistakenly optioned when installing Outlook 2K on one of our notebooks.
We are on the road, across the country from our office, wherein there are only Outlook ? and not Exchange...
I am about to install a large HD (WD 100 gig) into a box that boots to SCSI and has several SCSI disks and one IDE, which is presently probably set to ONLY IDE drive.
I want NEITHER of the IDE drives to be a boot drive and will now se the smaller, presently installed, IDE drive to SLAVE and the...
Thanks, all. This is very helpful. I may have gotten an Iwill 266 box without the ATA 100 cable. 'Just need to go buy one. Now I see exactly what I will look for. My understanding that the rounded cables, while rather futuristic looking, don't actually benefit one that much, so I will go with...
Scrap Silicon - do your ATA 100 cables have any written markings / an or verbiage on the cable, itself ? And, importantly, is there a blue connector on the system end ?
Would the Iwill 266 likely have included an ATA 100 cable as the cable included in the box ? I suspect not, so as to save themselves the cost. There is no marking on the box that indicates which rating of cable is what they have included.
The cable does not seem to have a blue end to it, so...
What markings show that IDE ATA cables are ATA 100 ?
Last year I bought the Iwill KK266, and I assume that the IDE cables that came in the retail box are ATA 100 (or 133) speed.
How does one determine, by looking at the cable that it is ATA 100 (or 133) speed, rather than 66 or 33 ?
Thanks
Particularly of interest is the potential for fewer problems if one goes straight through to the printer and not through the USB hub ?
Also, actually, the potential for newer Via USB drivers?
