Unable to edit system rigs

So, uh...thread necro time. Are system rigs dead? My bookmarked link no longer works so I'm guessing this was gone with the transition to the new forums/site?

For laptop control, I'd recommend something like Logmein for easy, free remote access. For remote control, is it a Logitech Harmony? If you get a standard Windows MCE IR receiver the Harmony remotes can interface with that.

xbox 360 hdmi with a hdmi->dvi adpater on dvi monitor

There shouldn't be any issue with that kind of setup. I've gone from DVI output on a cable box and computer to HDMI input on the TV, and vice-versa. As long as you got the right adapters and they're not busted, you'll be in good shape.

So what's the current consensus on HTPC user-interfaces? What's everyone using these days? I've not found any good links to comparisons between them, and I haven't played with any of them for at least a year and a half, so I'm a bit out of date on what's kicking the most butt these days...

Anyone notice a drop in Hard Drive Quality lately?

If you suffer repeated, frequent drive failures like the OP is, I think you should check to make sure you don't have really bad electrical wiring. It sounds to me like drives are frying out due to poor power input. If you're not running on an AVR UPS, then you should get one ASAP.

Tiniest Bluetooth adapter around?

You guys rock. I had heard of the Princeton Bluetooth adapter on engadget back in August with that EXACT same profile, but couldn't find anybody in the states selling it, and never managed to stumble across that Cirago model in my searches. Thanks again!

Memory for a HTPC?

The HTPC I set up for my brother is strictly for playback of DivX and MP3 files onto his 42" LCD TV. Since he doesn't do ripping, transcoding, TV tuning, or anything along those lines, he was able to get away with an Athlon 2000+ with 256MB of PC3200 on WinXP. YMMV, but he can play back h.264...

RAM Question

I don't think you're going to notice a difference with what you're doing. If your computer is running slow, you've got spyware/virus/misconfiguration issues, because any computer with 2GB+ of RAM is gonna run damn nicely when doing basic office tasks.

Do high-gain wifi antennas really do anything?

While that specific antenna isn't going to give you much in the way of gains, a higher-gain model certainly will. $35 for a 4dBi antenna is borderline highway robbery. I've had excellent luck with Hawking antennas, which tend to be cheap and powerful. There are lots of resources on the web...

You have it more or less correct. You want any wired devices plugged into the gigabit switch, with a crossover cable running between the switch and router (it doesn't need to be a crossover if the router supports auto-crossover in hardware, which 99% of them do, but I always say better safe...

Clearly you're unaware of the excellent quality of Nvidia onboard NICs...and overestimate the quality of Intel ones. Just because the Intel one says "Pro" doesn't mean it's the cat's pajamas.
