i'm embarrased to ask this......

For sharing dial-up connection, you don't need a router. You can just some network cards and a hub/switch. Windows 98 and up has internet sharing (ICS) built-in. You can think of a switch as being a "smart" hub. Just get a switch as they're about the same price (except for ones with 16+ ports)...

how do you create an install menu on a cd (for installing many apps)

Question about sharing a connection

Yes, that is the main function of the router. Every computer behind the router will get the same internet IP, but different LAN IP (ie. 192.168.1.x).

Cendyne Lite-On LT-32132S: Now you can flash it to 40x 40125S!

Successfully flash my 32123S to 40125S. Burning is about 30-45secs faster, but a tad noiser. Anyone know or tried to flash a 24x Lite-On?

Scanner Reccomendation?

In terms of scanning quality, go with Epson or HP. The cheapest model for HP that can scan slides is the 4470 and 3570 for $150 retail. Most OfficeMax stores have the 5370 (discontinued model) for $130 (used to be $300).

All the ones you saw on pricewatch are either 7000, AGP, or has no TV-out. Comes with s-video cable, composite cable, and adapter. The s-video cable has 4 pins.

Quick question about monitor video cables.

From the specs, the monitor can use either D-Sub 15-pin or BNC (cables not included). Eizo are not well known, but they do make pretty good (not excellent) monitors.

For the 200pk CDRs, they are "Value Discs" as stated by Bob, not PP as I said earlier. They aren't branded meaning they don't have a coated top like TDKs, Imations, etc. Sorry for the error. There are 4 SKUs (item #s) listed on the ad for the CD burners and there are only 4 brands OM carries.

My New Audigy: Some issues (help, im new to sound cards)

Creative has a program which they call AudioHQ along with the drivers which let you change from 2 to 4 channel. You can have Windows set to 4-channel, but if it still set at 2-channel in AudioHQ, it will play with 2-channel. This is what happened to me when I didn't want to install the software.

PNY Compact Flash Reader

I have this exact CF reader it works fine in XP without drivers. Try plugging it in a different USB port. If that doesn't work, try it on another computer. If it works on the other computer, than the USB ports on your computer probably are dead. Otherwise, the CF reader is dead.

Installing a driver in dos with NTFS. HELP

There's no way you can see a NTFS partition in DOS without a third party driver or program. NTFSDOS works, but you will have to pay if you want to be able to write to the NTFS partition. The shareware/free version is read-only.

Free antivirus software and firewall.

Even if Norton is free after MIR, you still have to pay a yearly subscription fee after the first year. I recommend Tiny Personal Firewall (www.tinysoftware.com) over ZoneAlarm if you want more control.
