Enabling DMA

Try uninstalling the Primary IDE controller (it's now possible in XP) and restart. When it re-installs, change the it to use DMA. My Cd-rom would only show up as PIO mode 4 and even if i changed it to use DMA. Upon uninstalling the Primary IDE controller and restarting Multi-word DMA was...

Shameless bump As I was sayin, the rear sats output with M3D on, but even while fiddling with the fader setting, the sound quality, although good, doesn't sound as good with M3D off, just outputting to the front sats. With M3D on, I get too much of a hall effect and the treble is a bit harsh...

Nevermind, guys, I got it :) Turns out you have to have M3D turned on, or the rear sats won't output. Anyways, thanks for the help

Connections appear OK. Green plug is plugged into my regular speaker jack. No output from either of the rear speakers, even with the fade knob set to full Any software settings I should be aware of? EDIT: Godamn, these are the best sounding set of computer speakers I've ever heard...

Hpw is audio on ECS K7S5A (and AC'97 in general?)

Horrible. God-awful. The worst possible audio quality you could ever encounter. Stuttering, skips, spontaneous fast-forwarding while playing any type of compressed audio (e.g. MP3). Just do yourself a favor, and pickup an actual sound card such as the Phillips Acoustic Edge or Hercules Game...
