Inspiron 6000 - 4gb possible?

I know this is somewhat of an old thread, but does anyone know if I need a bios upgrade to actually see 2gb of ram? I've got 2x1gb installed, but the laptop only sees 1gb.

Which Motherboard?

That's kinda what I was thinking. Use the multiple slots, but ignore the SLI capabilities. Not sure if it's worth doing though since I can just get another multi-PCI-X board instead.

Sounds like the Rampage Formula is the better choice. I was thinking about going with the 780i since it'd provide the multiple video card slots ... but it seems like it's a board more geared towards gaming than what I need. I may tinker around with overclocking the Q9450, but it's not a top...

I want to run one 30" and two 19" LCDs ... What do I need MB-wise?

I'm assuming a suitable motherboard for this type of setup would be an SLI-motherboard running in non-SLI mode w/ one video card driving the 30" LCD, and another card driving both 19" LCDs. Is that correct?

*DEAD* 8800GTs BACK IN-STOCK and $208 (MSI) and $235 (XFX) at Dell!

Is there any reason to go with a more expensive eVGA 8800GT Superclocked? Couldn't I just overclock the MSI card? Is there a notable performance difference between the two? I just paid $100 more for the eVGA card. Thanks ... been out of the video card game for a number of years.

I jumped in and got one. I'd been weighing the 6800GT's and 6600GT's for awhile and found that for what I do (graphics work, and minimal game playing ... maybe 2 or 3 games a year) the 6600GT was the right choice for me. Love the Dual-DVI since I plan on adding a second LCD later this year...

Just got the same estimate via email for my outstanding order. Looks like I may say screw-it and go with a 6600GT. I do web-dev, some gaming, but not a ton. I use an LCD with a native resolution of 1280x1024. I plan on playing HL2 and D3, and do some 3D rendering and possible video...

I just received my AMD 3500+ CPU. Is there any way (based on the serial number, etc.) to determine that I actually received the Winchester 90nm chip without opening the box? I want to make sure they shipped the right thing. thanks, telstar

Is pci-e 6800 Ultra worth the wait/cost or just go 6800 GT?

Does a PCI Express pure-vanilla 6800 (non-Ultra, non-GT) exist? I've been looking around for one of those, and haven't found anything yet. Deciding between a GT and a plain 6800.

NOT the same. The TigerDirect one says that it's 0.13 micron. The Winchester on NewEgg is 90nm. The chip shown on TigerDirect is the Newcastle core. They've either got the specs wrong, or they've got the wrong model number listed for the product. Either way, I'd stay away if you have your...

Grrr... NewEgg just bumped their price to $325 and their availability date to 12/20. I've got little confidence in either since they've been changing almost daily. Looks like maybe I'll settle for a non-Retail version.
