Windows installation, SATA hard drive.

We're gettting closer. Now it finds the driver file. But when i tell it to load, windows reports back an unexpected error then gives the CD's path, ending in oemsetup.c or something. wtf? I changed the .inf files name to what you said. was i supposed to change the .vxd instead?

Hardware involved: Asus A7n8x delux, Western Digital 120mb SATA drive. Problem: Computer recognizes the hard-drive on the RAID controller, windows says no hard drive exists. I've tried putting the sata drivers(minus the gui and linux folders) onto a floppy and f6 loading from that. Windows...

ok folks heres the situ. i have my XP backup disk sitting next to me. It was made by an (idiot)friend before i had my own burner. he made the copy of my orig but he did not make it a bootable cd. it has all the XP files on it though. i need to know how to turn it into a bootable CD as i am...

9x boot disks are under 1.44mb so dont act like its all that much downloading even on 56k if your using your ata/100 you should only need to put the cd into the drive and reboot. it will say "bootable CD detected" and you go from there. if you need to get into dos for some reason then you...

well, if your Fdisk'n your trubbles away just use a 9x boot disk which you can get the files for off the net. you could boot from the CD into the install screen. there is an option to "repair OS" if i remember correctly you will loose your registry, however the files on your hard drive will be...

Networking RedHat PC to Win2k PC + cable modem

a simple cable router will do just fine for keeping your cable co. in the dark if you shop right it wont be expencive either. and if you can use linux you should be able to work the router commands(if you had to) if not, do a search for some...borrowed cisco notes

W2K system start-up disk & *squeezing-in* AFLASH.EXE

do not use a win2k boot disk. take a generic 98 boot disk. put aflash.exe and the bios file on a SEPERATE disk. boot to dos(i wouldnt boot to dos w/ cdrom support, takes too long) take out the boot disk, put in the one with aflash and do your thing. i suppose you could just run aflash off...

Have a question for the overclockers...

OC'ing is really hit or miss. start by upping your mem by 5 mhz at a time. play(or time demo on loop) for an hour or 2. if nothing messes up go 5 more. do the same with the ramdac.

difference in brands of geforce 3?

www.3dchipset.com peanut and the gang are working with an undisclosed company on a "gamer's" geforce 3. they claim to have: upped the ramdac shortened the paths to the ramdac blue orb cooling standard fixed the RF problems DVI standard Lower price then even the visiontek.

lol what he said(someone find me those boxers though...) however not all nvidia cards are geared twards hardcore "l337" gamers. you prb have, but check out www.elsa.com their Quadro line(exp the DCC) and their synergy line both have some good features.

How many of you have ever had a virus?

well i had one on an old 486, got X-wing on disks from a friend(he was done with the game) ofcourse all the disks had a virus on them. didnt skrew anything up, found it a few months later. more recently i had a worm on my system. it was some linux server thing that doesnt affect nt5...
