i dont overlock anymore because it outdated

Intel CPU chip stacking and heat.

Intel tried that, it's called the Phi. It's like a big chip with a dozen of smaller cores but it kind of flawed after release. They pulled the plug. Having alot of slow cores seems logical but the way programmers tend to design programs are simply not ready for it. Look at the PS4's / Xbox CPU...

Newer x570 boards seem to have 4000MHz support (OC mode) for Ryzen 3x series. Any idea why you need a newer board in general to have support for 4000Mhz ram besides the CPU having the IMC integrated into it? Does it have todo with paths / signalling levels and all that?

There's really no need to update the bios, if it does'nt offer fixes for your specific platform alone. It wont magically OC better either. Some fixes are really minor fixes and not the trouble to go through. Really, if it aint broke, dont fix it.

Eh? You could save the profile if you have a advanced board. I.e a preset you can give it a name like "WORKING" so whenever you put in a CMOS reset you reload the profile and voila, everything back to what it was.

Load up XMP and start from there. I usually go for straight faster speeds, and memory timings as a last step. Use memtest86 on a bootable USB/DVD or whatever and have it run a few tests. For full stability let it pass a night.

I found out that upping the VRM switching frequency, requires a lower overall CPU voltage to 'pass'. I.e less temps. Is putting a higher frequency of the VRM causing anything related to longevity of the VRM? It's cooled; that's not the issue.

I'm no intel expert but i do know that some boards have by default a Current limit going on. You could easily test with disable 1 or 2 cores. When it passes the settings your looking at a current or heat limit and not just a not working OC.
