Hmm. Very curious to see how well the 5700XT performs and overclocks and how it affects Radeon VII pricing (new and used). I wouldn't be surprised if the card isn't EOL yet because they didn't sell as many as they needed to clear stock. Off-Topic: Finally got my situation sorted with Alphacool...

Alphacool Eiswolf Update On May 13th, I received an email from Alphacool support informing me of the possibility that my Eiswolf AIO for my Radeon VII may be defective. I was already aware of this because of a thread on Reddit and I'm assuming that the email was just a blanket email sent to...

A much better result! Glad we got that sorted. As for the crashing, I haven't been able to play a whole lot since the patch because I'm on vacation, but I've found that The Division 2 is extremely sensitive to overclocks and memory instability. I've had to bump the core voltage on my GPU up...

Definitely make sure you're running DX12, I don't remember if it's enabled by default but my gut says no. It's definitely good for at least a 10 FPS boost in the benchmark (and more in-game, beleive it or not). The 79 FPS I got was with the stock cooler. The Division does seem to be a bit of a...
  5. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

Hmm. That seems quite low, tbh. Are you using DX12? My 2600X/Radevon VII at stock settings achieved 79 FPS Average in the same benchmark at the same resolution. CPU Usage was 48%. And that was with the old drivers (19.4.3).

Yeah, that Enermax ordeal is pretty wild. The built-in benchmark is in the Settings menu on the main screen when you first fire up the game. Settings, then scroll down to "Benchmark". Gives you some decent statistics, graphs, even gives you a score. Also generates a CSV and a screenshot in your...

Sorry for the double post, but it's been a few days. Installed 19.5.1 Today. People are reporting performance gains in several games. Fired up The Division 2 and got 4-5 average FPS higher than 19.4.3 in the built-in benchmark (1440p max settings). I'll take it! Additionally, I've received a...

I'm really hoping for a driver release closer to when Navi launches that boosts performance and smooths out the overall driver experience right now. My main issue is random screen flickering that happens sporadically. They've acknowledged it but it's gone unfixed for several releases now. That...
  9. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

Hmmm. That is pretty low. Seems like ~7900 should be what you're getting with stock settings. The only other thing I can think of doing at this point is updating the VBIOS on your card if you haven't already. I'm not sure if more recently manufactured cards have the updated VBIOS, I'm assuming...
  10. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

I'm not too familiar with the X399 platform and don't have much experience with Threadripper in general, but my gut tells me to perhaps check your PCI-E Link speed and ensure it's at 3.0 and 16x. Perhaps some kind of weird lane sharing issue? Mind downloading Superposition Benchmark and seeing...

Yeah, I fired up the The Division 2 code the day the game was released. Played nearly 100 hours so far. I noticed the same core clock behavior, and I thought it was actually contributing to crashing for a bit, but it turned out to be something else hardware related. I settled on the daily...

Got my Eiswolf 240 installed today. The difference in temperatures are fantastic. I haven't had a lot of time to game extensively with it installed yet, but so far after running some preliminary benchmarks, things are looking really good. Former Daily OC/UV settings: 1825 MHz @ 990 mV -- Max...
  13. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

Nope. Just like when I bought an Eiswolf for my Vega 56, it was so early, I was kind of flying into uncharted territory. I just knew it couldn't be any worse than the stock reference cooler. My overclocked Vega 56 rarely exceeded 55°C while drawing ~280W. And that was with the radiator at the...

Potential bad news for some of you waiting for an Alphacool Eiswolf release. Apparently, according to another user who has contacted Alphacool, an Eiswolf for the Radeon VII won't be released for another 2-3 months. This is contrary to the information that I received at the end of March stating...

I'm sure he can give you more in-depth numbers, but I benchmarked my card at 2000 MHz (+20% PL) yesterday vs 1825 MHz (both with 1000 MHz memory clock) in The Division 2. The difference in Average FPS was ~10 but with less frame drips and much higher minimums. I also didn't apply a registry mod...

Good news for people that want to put their Radeon VII under water without getting nutsy with a custom loop. I've contacted Alphacool support and according to the representative, an Eiswolf AIO will be available for the Radeon VII sometime around the end of this month / beginning of next month...

I was wondering why I was getting all of these access requests all of a sudden. I'm not sure what happened but it was set to private. I certainly didn't change it. The Sheet has been fixed. It should be available to public once again. Link just in case.

Last update on modding the stock shroud / fan setup. I've created a who Imgur album with pictures to better illustrate the quest for a cooler and quieter Radeon VII, stead of a wall of text here. TL;DR is that temperatures were still worse no matter what I tried. So it looks like I'll have to...
  20. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

I wondered that myself. My buddy seems to think that even a Morpheus cooler for this card wouldn't do a whole lot more compared to the mod I'm going to attempt tomorrow. So, I guess we'll find out. I'm of the impression that something like a Morpheus has a bit of a beefier fin stack (and two...
  21. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

Well, folks. I decided to try something a bit silly today with my card: Taking off the shroud and strapping two 120mm fans to it with zip ties. It's not my cleanest work, but it was only for preliminary testing. Luckily the shroud comes off without having to take the whole card apart. The PWM...

No problem! Hope it helps. people in the future. As for the VRM cooling worries, I see this posted a lot in communities all over the internet when it comes to putting AMD cards under water. I don't have a lot of experience with watercooling many cards, but I can say that an Alphacool Eiswolf...

One last update on lapping the stock cooler. I took the card back apart to give everything a once over and once again slapped a bunch of paste on there. I removed the nylon washers, as it seemed to be interfering with screwing the backplate bracket all the way down. I made each screw extremely...
  24. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

Came home today and decided to lap the cooler again. I basically almost started from scratch and polished up the coldplate much better this time and I'm much happier with the flatness and the overall polish of the coldplate now. Took about an hour. I, once again, slapped a ton of Gelid GC...
  25. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

Realistically, there's been maybe 2-3*C drop in junction temps compared to the stock cold plate when running stock clocks or my daily undervolt. I noticed, however, when overclocking to 1900+ that junction temps came down maybe 5-8*C during benchmarks (100% fans), which is nice, but still not...
  26. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

So I took the plunge last night and decided to lap the stock cooler after a user on OCN claimed he got incredible results from it. The coldplate was warped, and though I had never wetsanded or lapped anything in my life I decided to give it a shot. After about an hour or so of sanding, I had a...

Looks like, according to the Community Radeon VII Sheet I shared earlier in this thread, that most of the HBM so far is made by Hynix. Unfortunately, I made the HBM Manufacturer column before GPU-Z supported Radeon VII fully, which falsely stated Micron as the HBM manufacturer. Since wiping the...

  29. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

Just tried the washer mod with the same size washers that TechPowerUp used (Nylon - M3x6mmx0.5mm). Noticed when taking the bracket off that not all screws were tightened to the same amount of torque. I wrote down how many full turns it took me to undo each screw so I could put it back together...
  30. Info Radeon VII owners/buyers thread

I wouldn't worry about the noise. The first thing you should do with this card is undervolt, as suggested previously. That brings the fan down to sane speeds and noise levels rivaling other cards. At 52%-55% the noise is still much less than my Reference Vega 56 fan.

Hey guys and gals, Fellow Radeon VII owner here. I decided to sign up to contribute to this discussion a bit, share my experiences, help, etc. Additionally, I've created a community Google doc, that I've already shared with Reddit where fellow Radeon VII owners can share their overclock /...
