Actually networking is one way that you CAN see an NTFS drive with a Fat 32 drive.

Western Digital drive opinions?

Have 3 generations of WD so far (and 2 IBM) and have had very few problems with either. an old 4.3 gig WD died after 3 years (@ O/C FSB) which I thought was a bit early but all others so far so good (all overclocked FSB). Edit: My 7200 rpm WD 10BA and 30BB are great. i would not go to 5400...

New Radeon Win2k 3211 Driver

Got'em Installed 'em. Ran 3dMark2k1 and some games...no problem. But...when running 3d mark2k and Temple Demo neither benchmarks recognize the Vid card as having sufficient on-board memory to run AT ALL. Shows 3211 drivers installed with 32 megs ram in properties. Strange. went back to 3102...

Dunno. Have not had a chance to try yet. Someone hopefully will post soon. Awfully fast release though (1 week since last?), maybe they found a fix for something.

If you have DSL and a dynamically allocated IP, how would you share the connection using a hub?

Yes mine is dynamic (Qwest), but I have to disconnect from network (unplug) from between 1-72 hours in order to be assigned a new address. Actually I am on VDSL line (digital tv/ethernet/phone connection).

Slikkster- thanks a lot for the progie link. I always liked that in Win 98 ...much easier then ipconfig. Let me ask you something. Is it safe to assume that if I release my IP address that I am no longer visible on the internet? i.e. no longer connected to my xDSL? I have a dynamic connection...

My "connection specific DNS suffix" shows USWEST.net (My ISP) But that is determined (I think) by the fact that I can get an IP address from my provider. (where you can not) You could add it in the registry setting that I noted in an above reply but I do not know if that would have any...

512mb, WHAT TO DO IN WIN2k!

In fact Win 2k will NOT run without a swap file. On boot it creates an "emergency" swap file of about 10% of RAM (at least mine goes to 20 meg on boot up). Disable page executive is one tweak... (As Biggs said)but it's like this...

Also (from a command prompt) run ipconfig /all. Find out what Win 2k is recognizing and compare the DNS servers and settings to those provided by @Home. The same info is essentially in the registry here>>...

Win2k recognizes my 75GXP ATA100 HD as SCSI !

Nessism, Short of assuming you have the latest bios & drivers, I can not imagine why the delay. I installed off the onboard controller last time and then switched to the Promise after installing the proper diver etc. Have not tried the F6? on install method yet (probably won't either)...

Win2k recognizes my 75GXP ATA100 HD as SCSI !

Nessism AFAIK Win 2 k will always see a HDD on the Promise card as a SCSI device. I also have a BX board and once I flashed my Ultra 66 to newest bios and drivers, set my boot sequence to SCSI first and disabled all other onboard controllers in Bios, it boots quickly.

Good point. Although, using netbui for home networking (2 local machines) and unbinding Netbios over TCP/IP is a secure way to prevent internet intrusion on the network. Of course I also use a soft firewall (xDSL), but without netbios bound to TCP/IP you can not make a connection to the guest...

Win 98 is very limited in resource handles. Win 2k handles this MUCH better and would take forever to run out of resources. That is one thing in particular that people are talking about when they say Win 98 does not utilize large amounts of RAM well. (I know touchy subject)... It's not that...

Glad it helped. Found that about a year ago when scrounging for Win 2k tweaks. Kinda forgot about it 'cause I saved the .reg file and everytime i reformat\reinstall that is one of the first registry edits I execute. Can't remember where I first read it though :(

I use Tweak UI to move My Documents although I'm sure you can do it in the registry. (where?) Pagefile.sys is the same as Swapfile on win 98. Page file size setting is for setting this virtual memory size.
