I'll try different ports. I've only tried the USB 3.0 ones. Maybe if I move it to USB 2.0 it might work? I'll try that first. Someone else suggested wiping all drivers and starting from scratch. I may try that if a different port fails. Thanks!
So... I got this board a while ago to replace a ASRock X99 board and it's been great but there's just been one little quirk that has bugged the crap out of me and it's become even more evident as of late.
The first time I encountered this issue was after installing windows and trying to boot...
I'm working with 5D Mark III and Fuji X-T1 files however...
I'm looking for DAS via USB 3.0 if at all possible... though the possibility of setting up a server is intriguing!
Okay. I've done a little bit more reading and RAID 1+0 may be a better solution and I still get the 6TBs of data. :) Any recommendations for a 4-bay enclosure to run RAID 10?
So yeah. I'm not a raiding person by any means and the extent my RAID has never gone beyond software RAID 0 with 2 old school WD Raptors.
I do photography as a second job and fill about 3TB of RAW data every year and right now I'm buying 2 3TB drives and copying two sets of RAW files to these...
I completely agree that it does make sense but that doesn't mean I have to like it! :) I was really hoping that they'd make the X930 8-core but have less cache just like the current one 6-core CPUs. Now, I have to save up even more if I want to get the 8-core 5960X beast.
So I finally figured out what the problem was.

It had to do with adobe acrobat. Sigh. If anyone else is having issues hopefully this will help.
Here's one for you. I run spotify and if you know spotify when an update is available it'll let you know. You click the link and it auto updates to the newest version. Well, I update and it keeps telling me that a new version is available. In order for me to actually get it to install, I have to...
So I have a new one. Since updating to 8.1, I've noticed that whenever I try to install anything, if I do not right click and "Run as Administrator" that the install will either be stuck or not run at all.
Does anyone know what causes this and how to turn it off? It's annoying having to force...
I spoke too soon. Hmm... HTML5 videos seem to crash my browser. Whenever I get on kickstarter and watch a video, it just automatically causes it to crash. :(
So I'm having this issue right now where uploaded jpegs appear to be more "compressed" (jagged lines, discolorations) in my browsers but when I pull them up on my iPhone (Chrome), they appear perfectly like I had uploaded (I'm a photographer).
I tried disabling extensions to see if they were...
Not sure if this has been posted yet but this website is the bomb for tracking cards.

I can't believe how much the 290 has gone UP in price. I got mine for $399 from Tiger Direct the 2nd or...
Is Intel's lack of performance increase partially due to non-competitiveness of AMD? Are we seeing what we saw back in early 2000 where Intel got comfortable with where they were at while AMD pushed ahead? I really loved AMD and their K7/K8 line of chips.
I've been looking at a monitor that does not allow any color adjustments... only the brightness and contrast.
If you're using a calibration device and software, how do you adjust the color?
I'm so used to Dell's where you have the ability to adjust RGB from the monitor.
Thanks!
40D -> 1DMarkIIn -> 1DMarkIII -> 5D -> 5DMarkII
I've tried the 7D and it just didn't feel right so I sold it.
The 5DMarkII... was definitely a love-hate at first due to its slow FPS (versus the 40D and MarkIII) and crappy AF points. But once you learn how to use it (only use center point now)...
I went with Canon simply because all my previous cameras (P&S) were Canon.
Now if I could start over... I'd go for a dual system - canon and nikon.
I have two FF bodies (5d and 5dmarkii) but would love to have the D700.
Lenses wise... Canon has far better primes (50 f/1.2, 35 f/1.4, 85...
congrats! i'm waiting/holding off on the 135 until i absolutely need it.
As for the 7D... honestly... I had it and I sold it. Crop bodies don't feel the same to me anymore. The 1D mark III though was nice.
A cool trick I recently learned was taking a 50mm prime lens and flipping it so you hold the front element against the body and the back element as the front. It doubles as a macro and you can get some really close up shots! To adjust the aperture, you do the trick where you set the aperture you...
I don't ever use my sigma 50 anymore... like... never. I haven't mounted that lens on my camera since getting the 35L. I'm about to get rid of the sigma 50 and get the canon 45 ts-e instead.
Honestly... I would've gotten the 35L first.
I have both the 35L and 85L II and I use the 35L about 90% of the time. It's just a more useful focal length for EVERYTHING though the 85L does rule the portrait world.
I agree with underexposing the background. Here's my take on it from a shot this past Saturday:
But I think the environment of your shot was fine. It creates mood. I like your environment.
I think these look great. Just be careful of how the shadows fall across her face (from tree branches - this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/seannaber/4107506015/in/set-72157622688026881/ - from her scarf http://www.flickr.com/photos/seannaber/4107505873/in/set-72157622688026881/)

You can do a lot with just white.

Zack is the man. His work is amazing. His white seamless tutorial is awesome. Check it out.
the raw file doesn't get manipulated in anyway. the raws stay intact. so if you were to take the raw file and open it in another program, the file would look the way it did before you did anything in lightroom.
lightroom uses a catalog system that keeps track of all the edits you make to a...
what version? 2.X? 2.5 unofficially supports the 7D RAW files.
now if you shot it in mRAW or sRAW it does not support it.
You will need Lightroom 3.0 beta to open these files. I learned this recently from reading the adobe lightroom 3.0 beta forums.
hope this helps!
