I remember somthing deep down in a bios setting somewhere something about having the option to "restart computer on lost power" or something like that. It's there I guess to make sure that is your machine is a server and power is lost it will reboot when power is restored, allowing any process...

What's the best MS OS to use as a firewall/router for a home network?

Hey, I use Win2k Adv.Server with internet connection sharing. I also have it assigning IP's in my home network with it's DHCP service. I wouldn't do this with a broadband connection, however, without using Norton Personal Firewall 2002. I would also reccommend Zonealarm Personal (it's free...

Importing user settings in Win2K

You can create the new account... log in once using the new account, log out, log back in with Administrator (whew!), copy the contents of the Desktop, and Favorites folders under the /Documents and Settings/Administrator (or whomever) and put them in the appropriate locations for the new user...

figure this one out and i'll give you a dollar

This probably won't be of much help for you now, but I used this little trick on an old 486 laptop with the same port config as your viao. I formatted the c: drive so it would boot, created a boot disk with CD support, copied the win95 directory onto the hard drive, then rebooted and installed...

Win2k and ATA 100

When installing win2k pro on an Abit be6-2-revII with a built-in ATA 100 controller, I needed to press F6 during the begining of the install so win2k would know to ask for the driver disk at a specific point. I also had to enable the controller in the bios settings of the motherboard...
