Considering they are claiming 14% IPC uplift for Lion's Lunar Lake. I can see it reaching close to 16% for the Arrow Lake version. If there is indeed some clock regression, 10-12% increase while improving energy efficiency significantly will be a pretty good update over Raptor Lake.

The generational uplift in power efficiency with the Xeon 6700E is significant. Or if still relying on Ice Lake...

50% it’s also with current drivers. My guess is they will improve performance beyond that. I hope they reach 4070S levels.

    NV Super refresh reviews

Got a 4070 Super, coming from a 2060 is quite a huge jump. Almost 3x in a lot of games I tried at 1440p. I'm going to try to do some undervolting and slight OC.

Why would you have an event to overclock laptop CPUs meant to provide a jump in efficiency. Intel is a master at shooting at their own foot. Pretty horrible showing.

Nothing to do with that, it's a comparison between two power curves that do not touch ("MTL beats Phoenix") vs two power curves with a different slope that will eventually meet, before they met at 65W or so now it looks like they will meet at 40W. They are two complete different statements. But...

"Meteor Lake is supposed to beat Phoenix". Implies MTL should/must beat Phoenix at all power levels -> crazy nuts "oone in their right mind thought that Intel 4 + RWC (or GC+) was going to beat N4 + Zen4 in perf per watt. Although it might at some power levels." Implies Phoenix will more...

Not at all. MTL was supposed to close the gap as much as possible as noone in their right mind thought that Intel 4 + RWC (or GC+) was going to beat N4 + Zen4 in perf per watt. Although it might at some power levels. Why would you bring to desktop an architecture meant for power effiency, with...

And to be honest, I'm waiting for post-CES reviews but if Golden Pig pcore update results are validated it would beat Phoenix at perf/watt above 35W. Ofc is not the ideal scenario for a laptop CPU but it's much better than 13th gen against Phoenix/Zen4.

"It should clearly win ST performance versus its competition and older Intel SoCs, and it should use at least a little less power doing so"

Discussion Intel Meteor, Arrow, Lunar & Panther Lakes Discussion Threads

No it didn't. Even in the first Notebookcheck review, which everyone used to tell us MTL was a failure, it beat the 13th gen at all tested power levels.

Discussion Intel Meteor, Arrow, Lunar & Panther Lakes Discussion Threads

It does use less power to achieve the same performance. Proven over and over again. Even in the first benchmarks. The pcore update just adds more margin between 13th gen and MTL.

I saw one as well, it's indeed gorgeous. I may pull the trigger on it, as I'm looking to replace my old 7700 + 1050Ti. Only downside is 16GB of RAM.

That is pretty much in line with other results that showed a 10-12% increase in performance at different power levels.

Revenue share doesn't mean units and therefore marketshare. Intel can sell more Xeons at lower prices and generate less revenue than AMD selling at higher cost per unit.

Yeah would have been a great review if we had power levels along with performance results. His benchmarks seem to be a bit on low side but within margin of error, I saw several ZenBooks reaching 2400 points is ST in GB6. But again it's about 2% difference. Very encouraged by the battery life.

They are using PL1 and PL2 numbers straight out from the specs sheet. No indication in any of those test it hit those power levels. It's like posting 13900K gaming numbers and saying it needed 250W to achieve those results. Complete baloney.

We still need more test to confirm new pcode situation (if confirmed new BIOS includes the update) but also the new GPU drivers which should fix the abysmal drop in performance of the iGPU when going under 30W. If Intel manages to fix those things, MTL will become a very interesting product for 24.

If it's an increase in PL2 power it should be easily measurable. But if it's only that, there no need to release the initial bios without it.
