Are you sure that the HP7200i is really an HP product? I've heard that they don't make their own CDRW drives. Maybe there is a firmware update you are not aware of. Just a thought:)

Sorry about that last post, but I really was. I think Leo is on the right trail here. From your description, the HDs are set up correctly. I would get the vid card and the Promise controller up and running with the latest drivers/BIOS first, then tackle the other cards.

IRQ problem. (had it b4) There are 16 IRQs total. Most of these are used by the system. You usually have 6 free ones for video, sound, network, modem, COM ports or whatever. If you are trying to use more IRQs than the system has available, you will have strange problems, like spontaneous...

Abit or Asus?

Never had any problems with either, although... Asus are clearly manufactured better, but... I do generally like the Abit BIOS better. What a help, huh? I think the concensus is definitely with Asus here tho :)
