I'm sure DVD and SDTV will be around for a looooong time still so If you mostly watch SDTV (standard definition TV) then it's not so bad. Plus it comes with a 2yr warranty and it's a Sony so there are actual parts and techs to fix them. Don't be so quick to shoot the deal down.

The one at newegg does not appear to be trayless which is the cool part of the whole thing. I have a startech one. Works fine on my HP 5700 but makes my Dell Optiplex 745 not shutdown until I remove it.

I think virgin mobile is a better deal for the occasonial user .25 minute for the first minute .10 after. Plus you only have to buy a $20 card every 90 days (not $25) of course their $30 phone is not as nice as the Sony Ericson.

My Sams in Cincinnati has a 20" Daewoo for $199. In my opinion the picture quality and the build fit and finish are better than the Apex. Also Daewoo has been making TVs a lot longer than Apex AFAIK.
