Good recording software

My goal is simply to record and edit .wav files. I wish the program to be easy to use, and preferably freeware. Can anybody give me good advice on software?

Sexiest aircraft

How dare you all ignore the F-15. America's most multi-purpose jet. For being as old as it is, the F-15 is still one of the best pieces of equipment we have, with some of the most versatile loadouts of any plane. I love that thing, it roxors my boxors!
