I think the article is part crap when it comes to the Phaeton. IMO the Phaeton has been quite underhyped in terms of capabilities and features. VW stupidly isn't doing any advertising of the amazing features it has. :disgust:
The X-Type and Ford Thunderbird are however certainly overhyped crap.
The 1/2 Kenmore is not bad. My old Kenmore crapped out too last week, rusted center-bolt. So too on CR receommendation bought the 1/2 hp one. It was on sale for 59$ and I had a 10 off 50. So it was a good deal. So far it's working fine, no complaints. If you wish to find a reasonably good...
Sorry, my bad. I misread one of the other posted links on audiworld site and apparently it was some-other similar accident where the driver escaped. That said, somehow I find this whole accident a bit suspicious.
Except that the S60 scored the last in crash-test ratings amongst it's peers.

The Volvo safety factor isn't as hyped as it used to be. Once upon a time Volvos were certainly one of the safest cars. But in today's world...
I think the whole new setup of C&D's subjective option crap sucks. For example, last year when they did the test between a 330i and A4 3.0, they were very neck to neck. And not in this test a lowly 325 (with no changes) beats the same A4. Just don't get it..:disgust:
Granted currently the...
VW has had some excellent and intelligent ads for a while. However for the past 2-3 years, they have become crappy. If you see some of the old VW ad (as in 5-10-15-20 years back) they were brilliant and intelligent. Especially those of the old Beetle, Corrodo etc. Unlike many other...
As another poster pointed, I got mine too at http://www.powerbulbs.com Prior to these I had the Phillips Vision Plus, which were pretty good too. They lasted me roughly 2 years. I was hoping that they would last me more. Anyways these new SilverStars while being a wee bit brighter than...
Not to rain on the parade. But the US versions of these bulbs are just about average. The real good SilverStars are the ones made by Osram (Sylvania's parent) and available in Europe only. It's quite like the K-mart Zymol vs the real Zymol for those in the auto-know-how. Trust me, I get...
Agreed. I am surprised nobody is flaming the poster. :Q That said, Sony WEGA is really overhyped. Almost all good Full Flat TVs have 3 line comb filter etc. I prefer the JVC over the WEGA. The Sony XBR on the otherhand is a wee bit better, but is worth the extra money ...dunno.
While you are right about all giving rebates and buyers getting used to it, it's a vicious self-feeeding circle. Honda is smart to realize it and hence doesn't give much discount. They know their products will sell. And not giving much rebates unlike other manuf. helps them retain better...
I doubt you are going to see any anytime soon. VW has one of the lowest rebates/discounts in the car industry. Yup much lesser than the much vaunted Honda/Toyota/Acura/Infinitis.
Actually if you consider that all their bread-and-butter lineup is super old compared to the competition, the lower numbers aren't too surprising. That said come 2005 and they will have a wave of new products to push them back to the top of the heap. What VW did wrong was neglect their main...
They do still sell them on Tirerack.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Dunlop&tireModel=SP+Sport+A2&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=06HR5A2&fromCompare1=yes
I bought mine about a year and half back. Also the A2 are slightly different for 15 versus 16 (symmetric vs asym pattern...
I would second what [/b]Triumph[/b] said. Also if you are a bit short for money try the Dunlop A2 Sport. Pretty good tires for the money. I had mine shipped from Tirerack and installed at a local tire shop. Definitely cheaper than the Stealership. Also you can try go for the 205/60/15...
Thanks for the feedback. Do you think it is better than a similar priced 18V Craftsman drill-with-cutter available in Sears?
Also it doesn't have a level indicator on the drill ? Any downsides?
TIA
I bought my new car from out of state. No problems. As a matter of fact it can be helpful, if the state from which you bought has lemon laws and your state doesn't. Example in North-east, PA has lemon protection laws while DE doesn't.
Absolutely agreed. AID is really predominantly preventable. On the other Cancer is not and can strike anybody/anytime for no apparent reason. Apart from the ones which are gotten from smoking etc (which are preventable) a lot of Cancer has got to do with genetics.
I totally agree with the...
Guys,
One of my buddies needed a few ideas for his college project on networking. It has to be preferrably on Linux and should be roughly a 2 man-month project. Gotta work with/on the college LAN.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank!

It's called flavour of the month. Wait for a year or so and see how much volumes they sell. All manuf have the same cycle. VW with their Cutesy New Beetle, Chrysler with it's ugly PT Cruiser etc...
And that unfortunately is a very wrong opinion. There definitely are a boat-load of excellent second level (second only to the likes of IIT aka MIT, Caltech etc) e.g. regional colleges, many other govt colleges. Many of them come quite close to IIT/MIT level. Trust me you or whoever gave you...
Well, the T-Reg beat the BMW X5 (the current best on-road handling SUV, excluding Porsche). While the LandRover might be comfy, it's no twisty road burner or sporty. The T-Reg is quite sporty comparatively. Also consider the fact that T-Reg is like almost half of LandRover's cost, it's no...
You forgot to mention that the Land Rover doesn't even come close to T-Reg's on road capabilities. As a sum total of all capabilities T-Reg's way better.
Excellent assessment. I have a 99 V6 Passat. Great car and pretty reliable car. Great mileage for a V6 (I get about 31-33 on highways). If I had to buy it all over again, I would still stick to the Passat over a lemming Accord or a crappy econo Altima or FUGLY Maxima. By far Passat has the...
Try using a good scrubber. There are scrubbers which are specially made to be non-scratch on Teflon. use those. Also use only wooden or plastic spatulas spoons etc ..
VW is going to offer the V10 Diesel early next year. Expect the cost to be about 55K. Also VW got awarded for the Best Lineup of Diesel engines in the World. Secondly this V10 was awarded as the Best International engine in any engine over 4L category. It beat all engines including much...
I am not sure what the front-seat setting were on the one you saw. I am a regular 6 footer. I adjusted the front seat for myself and then went in the back-seat and tried. My head-hair almost grazed the roof and my feet had to be almost pushed under the non-existent space under the front-seat...
