Yep, the pause at bootup is a 20-second IDE boot device timeout. It isn't going away :( Live with it, or slap some stupid IDE hard drive in.

No. You should have an unknown device after install, but other than that no, you dont have to install the driver if you arent using it. This is beginning to look like something other than the promise controller :) BSOD on install is a bad, bad thing.. you are running in 16bit compatibility...

Ugh, just downloaded the drivers on MSI's site. Your right, build 60, wtf are these!?! Wonder what Promise has to say about this build of driver.. I have not tried these drivers.

So, are you using the onboard controller? You said 1 ibm drive connected to IDE3, so I am assuming you created a 1 drive stripe array? That is exactly how I disabled evian.sys, so you did nothing wrong. I don't claim to be an expert either, but I do want to help.. I'll hop over to their site...

I've disabled the evian "service" on 5 different systems running the MSI TurboR mainboard with different configurations so far with ZERO problems. Either you are doing something wrong, or have a configuration unknown to me. Contact Promise support, they will advise you to disable...

An update: (I've been sick as a dog so I haven't been posting..) I did finally get the board to do correct multipliers, with the 1.6overclockers bios and 133fsb. I have an unlocked 1gig tbird. This is exactly what I did to get to 7.5x133=1000mhz. I will be going higher but figured I'd start...

Then you have the exact problem we all do, the Promise controller is a SCSI card as far as the mainboard bios is concerned. It pauses if there is no IDE boot drive it appears.. giving it ample time to respond, as if its unthinkable that there wouldn't be one.. doh!

No way I'd allow my son to play EQ. No friggen way. Keep in mind dad, that 10 hours a week is no where NEAR enough time with EQ. This isn't a game like any other, EQ needs 8-10 hours DAILY. Take it from me, a struggling addict, you hate every moment you aren't inside the machine slaying evil...

I don't think anyone at MSI gives a crap. I don't know of a way to extract your bios settings, however, you could load optimized defaults and then jot down what you change from there? I watched the DLED lights last night on a boot up and it indicates IDE detection during the 20 second pause...

Has the MSI K7T Trubo had multiplier problems too?

The board definitely has multiplier issues. Memory interleaving has been working on it from release bios, you simply enable SPD. Beta 1.6 bios enables SPD by default, that is the reason for the misconception.

Has anyone found the actual 8X multiplier? 8x results in 12x for me, 8.5x results in 12.5x etc.. I am afraid to try the 9x or >10x multipliers for fear of torching my cpu.

Bad news :frown: Multipliers after the flash were 10.0 on up in .5 increments. I have a 1gig processor. 10.0 multiplier resulted in 1000mhz, 10.5 resulted in 650mhz? So it appears things are still fuggered, and low multipliers are still not available. In addition to this disappointment a)...

Will do, by the way, if you toggle the SPD enable in the Advanced Chipset menu you will see the memory scores go up. That is how you enable 4-way interleave.

The MSI tech assures me this will provide FSB adjustments down to 5x, in addition to correcting the INTA promise controller issue, and better voltage adjustment. In addition, of course, to many other fixes (so they say).
