The AD10 is pretty good htpc option. You certainly don't need an i5 for that.. Hmm, this is cool and all, but what market is this aimed at? It seems the cheap amd zortec is enough for everything one looking for cheap prebuilt htpc. That said, I want one. June is gonna be a while.

Are Plasmas ok to use as a monitor nowadays? I am really researching the P55ST30, I plan to use it as my primary display device. I want to just sit on my recliner, ~14 foot away from tv, and browse internet, watch media files, etc. I do a lot of reading online, so text display is crucial...

I can rip the audio off the dvd and add it back, but I don't know how I add music to the existing talking track.

Adding Music to Home Video

I have a home video on dvd with just talking and ambiance noise on it. I want to add some music to the background. Like have music playing while the talking is louder on top. What software could help me do this?

Freeware programs and applications (continuation)

Is there a freeware that will scan a disk drive and provide a report of spaced used per directory, per age of last modified, etc? All in an easy report that can be sent to others or saved for later viewing?

Backing up data

Hi all, Wondering if you could help me. I have massive amounts of data, pictures, excel files, all types, and I want to back them all up DVDs. Is there a program out there that could hep me catalog what is on every dvd? Perhaps in a directory format?

Configuring 5.1 audio for gaming from HTPC

I have a new concern. I can't get games and any media player to play sound at the same time. Only the first one I open will have sound. I believe this is because I have "allow exclusive control" on; but it is the only want to get dpsif to output digital sound.

For those with the Benq G2400W, are any of you having problems to wake it up from sleep in Vista x64? I have a Samsung monitor on dual display, hooked up to the same card, and the samsung comes on just find after mouse movement, but the G2400W requires me to turn it off and then on again?

I don't know, I am not using a sound card, just the motherboard's sound. I believe it has Azalia and Realtek ALC889A codec?? I am not sure Azalia supports Dobly Digital Live, google is not helping much atm. Ltpage1- I only have one game to test right now, Crysis, and it's audio settings...

I have a GA-EP35-DS3P with SPDIF optical output am using to connect to Marantz 4001 receiver. I've been able to configure the video/audio playback portion of the HTPC to recognize digital sound when it plays(dts in dvds, x264 etc). But when I play games, the output is still stereo...

e8400 running hotter than q6600?

I got the same problem as you, i am reading in the high 40s and 50s for my E8400 too. I am thinking I am going to pick up some thermal paste tomorrow and seef that helps I ised coretemp to test.

I just purchased a BenQ G2400W monitor, and there is noticable bleeding along the top edges, otherwise no dead pixel that I have noticed. Should I return? I know bleeding is a risk with LCD, especially the TN, but I didn't know it was a problem for the BenQ?

OS will not boot up

I get through posting, and windows gets to the screen before the icon., with the white status bar on the bottom showing the progress, and then it reboots every time. Anyone know what could be the problem?

Getting HDTV LCD this weekend - any recommendations?

Yeah if you are going to be be watchign movies and sports, along with some regualr tv, a panasonic 50 inch is the way to go for aroudn that price range. Through you might have to find a deal to get it under 2500, it does get that low through. If you are planning to hook it up to a computer...

I did a windows test of each drive, and the S.M.A.R.T. saids everything seems to be ok for all drives. I just installed diskeeper to defrag, after someone suggested it above. I opened the case up, the fans are working, and while open, it did not make any sound. i closed it up, and the sound...

I don't know if it's the HDD, the led isn't on .. How can I check if the fans are working? I tried running in safemode, and it didn't make the sound.. so itcoud be some kinda spyware? I think I will just try formating after defrag is done.. my drives are like 50% lol..it's on seperate...

Nope, I'll try that now.. But the led doesn't light up, so it's not accessing the HDD I don' think. I think I should clarify the problem. It is making this noise like every 40seconds or so, and does it for like 7 sec.. I timed it. CPU load shows 1-2%.

I just recently developed this problem on my pent4 2.8g w/ HT, 1.25 pc3200 desktop, with win xp pro I am getting heavy load from something, even while idle. The HDD led doesn't flash, and I tracked CPU usage, and it remains at 1%. So I don't know what's making the noise. It's like that noise...

My current setup: P4 2.8ghz 800mhz fsb /w ht 1.25gb pc3200 ddr 128 MB ATI RADEON 9800 PRO- AGP 8x 720 GB 7200rpm HDDs Should I consider upgrading if I want to only spend under 1000? Maybe just get a dell 9150 or something.

Oh great, it works now with windowless. I had renderless before.. thanks! It's weird, but theatretrek and VLC doesn't even show videos on the secondary, just sounds.. ah well, zoom is my main player anyways, and it works now. Btw, whats ATI CCC options? I only have the drivers installed...

How can I decompress a 4 gig file?

I have this 4.3gig file rared up, but I can't decompress it; winrar gives a write error: only ntfs supports files larger than 4gig. I am using win2k and fat32. Is there anyway I can decompress this file?
