Thanks MrThompson, The FAQ answers practically all my questions. About the teacher... he's more into software (databases etc.). I don't know why he's going to ask a question on the exam, while he knows little about it... Same story with a question about overclocking?

Ah ok, but do you want to explain me why you believe that? I need some constructive facts for my exam. I know MP systems aren't useless (if I had the money I would buy one for myself... like SETI@home ;)). He told us some things... but it was way too subjective. I need good objective...

Hey, I have exam computer hardware next Monday. I would like to know what the advantages and disadvantages of multiprocessor systems are and in what circumstances they are attractive to use. My teacher believes they are useless, because the tasks aren't equally divided between the processors...

Server backup

RAID is a cool solution indeed, but a bit expensive for what I need. I would go with RAID, if I had the money. :( Oh well; backup over network is currently running ... scheduled the critical files to be back upped every day, the large archive once a week. Works fine. :D

Can't overclock as high in WinXP?

Indeed, some Operating Systems use resources in a more efficient way. I suggest installing FreeBSD for example; those overclocked system will crash even faster. Another thing: overclocking could even lead to data corruption on a long-term base, you just don?t notice it very fast with a Windows...

Yes, I have a 1 GHz 266FSB AVIA core Athlon CPU mounted on a Asus A7V133 with onboard RAID. The cooler I'm using is the Globalwin WBK38.

Is this problem solved? I'm having the same problem! I'm running 7.5 x 130 at the moment. My system locks up when I increase the FSB! Could it be the memory that doesn't work correctly @ +/- 132 Mhz? Thanks, Fox
