Boot up problem

questions for sp3 users

I installed SP3 on 3 systems, two which worked fine. The third however resulted in a lock at startup everytime(after the blue bar loaded). I was able to get into safe mode and unistall on that system, so it looks like it's back to sp2 for a bit on that one.

Raid Controller BIOS flashing??

Usually you have to update the Motherboard's BIOS to get an update to onboard raid contolllers. I don't think you can just use Highpoint's newest BIOS, those are reserved for add on cards only. I would go to Epox's site and see what the newest mobo bios is, and what version of the RAID contoller...

Apple USB keyboard on PC?

I have three of these keyboards, two black keys and one of the newer white keyed ones. I like them since they add the usb ports and the volume/mute buttons also seem to work as well in windows. The only drawback is that there is no printscreen function mapped on this keyboard, but I get by that...

USB Speakers in Linux

I believe those speakers need lots of special consideration(drivers), more than what the most of the basic USB support and updates from Red Hat can offer. they may only work in a windows box.

Argh! Beeps driving me insane!

I currently have this problem on an older abit slot1 mobo(BF6). The motherboard originally posted, but after a year or so, started the intermitent alarm. I think it may be the CPU fan/heatsink. I know the BIOS does have some temp alarms for the cpu itself, but maybe if the hs/fan is not spinning...

My p3/via based ECS dv6aa would not post until I switched out the memory I was trying to use. Memory which worked fine in another system! Keep Trying

Are there any PC cases like the PowerMac G4 cases?

Best 17" trinitron monitor?

is there such think as a 10,000 rpm scsi 3 gig hd?

I have a seagate cheetah 4.5gig 10,000rpm drive. It's pretty loud, but pretty fast still. Not as nice as newer models though.

New Intel P3 - FCPGA2

I have an Intel 1.0ghz FC-PGA2 chip, that works fine in my old,cheap biostar socket370 board. But I beleive the chip is not a tualatian core w/512k cache, but it does have the larger metal area on the top of the chip like the tualatians also do. I got it here...

I find it entertaining, but it is funny/insulting for computer enthusiasts because most of us build our own computers, and we know we could build something a lot better than what dell could offer on those commercials for the same money. (not because it's not geeky enough for us to like it) But...

I was able to get rid of the second gameport by disabling "Legacy Audio" in the BIOS, but the Unknown Device "MEDIA" still exists in the device manager and I haven't a clue on what it's really there for.

Will the Matrox G450 DH do DVD on the monitor and a big screen?

Dual PIII 1Gigs on ECS? What Power Supply?

I have been using a 300watt Antec PS on my ECS dual p3 gigahertz system for about 5 months, no problems, but I am only using one hard drive, and two cd drives, you may need more power if you want more than that..

Anyone know what the LCD screen on this Vaio is used to output?

I beleive that since that system has a built in MiniDisc recorder, and the buttons for controlling that can be seen on the front of the case, it could be the output info, track information, operation info for the Minidisc player/recorder.
