Sounds like the password is set in BIOS. Clearing CMOS might solve the problem. Suggest you go to the notebook manufacturer's web site and see if you can download a manual. That should tell you specifically how to handle the situation.

Why can't I play True Lies on my DVD-ROM drive?

Try the following (this helps with some specific DVD's) if you are using Win98SE: Run MSCONFIG. On the GENERAL (opening) page, click the ADVANCED button (bottom right corner of page), then put a check in the box marked "Disable UDF file system." Close config and restart. Good luck.
