By "run ok" I mean have a framerate at least as good as on the real Switch. If you want to emulate a 30fps game at twice that framarate then you might need an insanely powerful CPU. I'm not up too up to date on Switch emulation. Check Youtube videos of people running the games you're targeting...
Yes but for now I'm not even considering AM4 because it requires expensive DDR5. Raptor Lake might be similar to Zenr 4 in emulator performance and cheaper, we'll see. I will get the best cheap CPU later this year

Apparently the extra Zen3D cache helps for Yuzu but not for Ryujinx, but Switch emulation and common games should run ok in any modern CPU, so they should not guide your purchasing decision.

My situation is the same. I have a 9 year old Haswell and for my new PC what will require the most CPU is certainly emulation. So I probably will go with Intel because currently they are better for emulation while Ryzen is better for common games.

The problem is fixed after buying a new PSU. If I understood it correctly, the PSU is not broken but it's inadequate to newer CPUs. I think I vaguely remember choosing a different kind of PSU when building another Haswell build 9 years ago, but I didn't remember to do it now, it's been years...
The CPU was pre Haswell but wouldn't the problem you describe make the CPU crash when under low load? That never happened, it crashed when under high stress

I'm almost sure Tiger Lake has hardware AV1 decoder on the GPU. Maybe it wouldn't run smooth if it was using software AV1 decoder, but maybe it would because 8-bit SDR is 4x less CPU intensive than 10-bit HDR. My 5600X drops 80% of the frames

I ran each of the AIDA 64 tests and none of them alone made the PC crash after 5 minutes. As I said, if I ran all at the same times it crashes in 10s twice.

They are up to date and I don't think the GPU is the issue because it's old and it has always worked. I don't think AV1 decoding use GPU hardware acceleration because it's an GTX 970. I'm not using video tests anymore because I found out that AIDA64 is a much more reliable way of making the PC...

Just out of curiosity. If you want to replicate you need to go to youtube playback settings and tell youtube to always use AV1. Then you use the latest Chrome on an HDR monitor and choose 4K playback. It won't crash in your computer because it's not defective like mine
