Discussion Dis SHEE-** is Crazy! And when they "notify" me in a couple weeks, will it REALLY be REAL?!!

Just to give you an idea of what you're up against, it took me nearly a month of wearing out my F5 key at 6:30 every single night at checkout before I scored my 6900xt in Jan. And I was all-in watching multiple Discord channels and had 3-4x tabs open trying to buy within -seconds- of the drop...

Best games of all time that you always keep coming back to?

I prefer the gameplay and storyline of 1&2 and the environment of Infinite. I feel that the storyline ambitions of the latter were too ambitious to fully realize, but man did they ever create an immersive world to take in.

Question Where can you get a decent nVidia graphics card these days?

Has the situation worsened significantly in the last few months? I was able to snag a 6900xt and 3070 using Discord channels (Snail Monitor and ATR) back in Jan. Got old wearing out the F5 button nightly at 6:30, but it did eventually work.

Question Custom loop - worth it?

Yeah, I'd get nervous running IO and SA above 1.3V. Turbo boost puts me at 4.8 out of the box, so my OC is mild. I think the sweet spot is 6--8 cores for the recent-gen Intel proc line if/when you've looking to upgrade.

Question Custom loop - worth it?

Got mine for $390--msrp at the time was $500. I have to run IO and SA at 1.25V, otherwise I get random freezing. Really, wish I would have just gotten a 10700K given the lower temps and $100 cheaper. And yeah, its more cores than I need, even with the graphic design I do on the side.

Question Custom loop - worth it?

De-lidding would help, and may go that route, and also considered trying out an AVX offset this weekend. A certain other forum had a discussion on this very thing recently that somehow turned into a 4-page flame war lol. Only minimally OC'd -- all core 5.0 atm. Granted, I think the ideas above...

I'm a sucker for the HL and Bioshock series, the latter of which are probably my favorite games bar none. Going back a bit, still love Mechwarrior 2 + Mercs, but that's mostly due to playing the board game as well. Baldur's Gate series is in there somewhere as well. More play throughs on it than...

Speaking of HL 1, anyone else giving Black Mesa a spin? So far loving this game all over again, and on 1440p UW to boot. Cheers to the Crowbar Collective for the remake.

Fair enough....it's prob 5C or so. However, that additional 5C just pushes me into the low 90C range, which has me nervously eyeing core temp. I only point it out because I said the same thing and figured a Noctua D15 could handle this cpu...and it's in a 7 fan Lian Li Mesh with those temps for...

Info My new 3090/i9 10900K build 3D Mark results

Yup, right at what I'm running for my 'everyday' OC. http://www.3dmark.com/spy/18535293 Swinging for the fences gets me 20.5k, so my card didn't win the silicon lottery, but it's not a dog either. The lack of DLSS is unfortunate. Was looking for a 3080/3090 but none to be had, even subscribed...

Question 6900XT, where are the reviews? When can we order it?

Wow...pretty toasty esp. for a hybrid. That thing have 3 8-pin connections? Otherwise, not sure how you got 430W to it using 2 2-pin (~300W) + pcie slot (~75W) connections. My cap is 360W, and only for quick test runs.

Good score. My 6900xt can't touch it, but expected for that BM. Timespy, however, puts me even with stock to mild OC'd 3090's.

Question 6900XT, where are the reviews? When can we order it?

18.5k or so is what I got out of the box with my 6900xt, so that checks. With an 'everyday' OC + slight power bump to 330W with MPT I'm sitting at 20k even. Full-on swinging for the fence while nervously eying 100* junction temps puts me around 20.5k, so about even with a non OC'd 3090.
