I need to do a low level format I believe the system may have a virus. When I install win98 it all goes fine until it boots for the first time then sys files are mising.... :( .vxd and such. I don't know what else it could be unless the drive is shot but I haven't heard of this kind of...
A buddy bought on of those and after installing the modem gets a Port Open prompt when in modem diagnostics and no response in dial-up networking... any Ideas?

If the system is "old" in your cmos there should be an option for a low level format. All info on your disk is binary "1'S" AND "0'S" This will fill your disk with 0's...

I believe the continuously low level formatting is pretty rough on the disk's surface...
But as mentioned it will rid you of any virus I've ever heard of :)

I thought the most they did was lock it... it was about a concern I had over a phone call I had recieved Person to person from mexico but I don't know anyone there and I'm from MI. my wife took the call but didn't accept it. Is that sonething they would delete or lock?
