Northwood 1.6a, any OC difference between Malay or Costa Rica? Updated-Some Early Conclusions

Flatbroke, I set the voltage to 1.65v in the BIOS, but the Hardware Monitor reports 1.55v? At least what I saw then, I will double check when I get home from work.

Northwood 1.6a, any OC difference between Malay or Costa Rica? Updated-Some Early Conclusions

I have a TH7-II RAID, w/1.6a @ 140mhz so far, with stock hsf. It was a retail box cpu SL668 Costa Rica, A709 I believe? Voltage is at 1.65 listed, but reporting 1.55? I ran 3dMark2001 SE several times without a hitch, 145 seems to be unstable. I need more voltage and a better hsf before I can go...

**Update, now with Mainboard comparision** All about P4 1.6a Northwood here!

I have an Abit TH7-II RAID board, P4 1.6a Northie, and so far with standard heatsink and fan, BIOS is reporting that it's only getting 1.55v at the 1.65 setting, but so far a FSB of 140mhz, RDRAM is at 420mhz, AGP/PCI fixed. That is 2.247ghz. I am using Corsair high density RDRAM, 2 x 256meg...

I recommend the Intel Pro + NIC's, I have two of them and one in my TH7-II.

Terrapin, Sounds like a sweet system, I too just purchased an Abit TH7-II RAID, P4 1.6a Northwood, 2 sticks of 256 meg Corsair high density RDRAM, ATI Radeon 8500, 2-60gig 7200 rpm IBM drives. Make sure when you order or pick up the board, that it has BIOS #38 on it. I bought mine with BIOS #37...

Fitch, Thanks alot, I will try to get a local shop to "lend" me a willamette to do that with. Were you getting the same 13 error on the LED before you did that?

Sexyk, yes I put in the 2 RDRAM in the first 2 slots, labled 1a and 1b, and the crimms in 2a and 2b. Even tried the opposite, still no go :(

Synth17, First of all Thanks for the welcome and for replying. I have set all dipswitches to default and tried virtually every combination. I only have Video, CPU, RAM installed so far. And keep getting that LED 13 error and no further. I've also cleared the CMOS several times. Still no go.

Synth, I looked at that site, my sticker looks different, I don't have Revision on it, only the 79 with a circle on it.

Synth17, I really wish I could flash it, the sticker on the CNR says 03, and 79, and those are suppose to be the BIOS version that is on it. I can't get past the LED debug code of 13 when it POST's.

Help with Abit TH7-II RAID

Hi Everyone, My first post, and I have a major problem. I just purchased an Abit TH7-II RAID board, says 79 on the sticker for BIOS revision. A Northie 1.6a SL668 cpu, and 2-256 Corsair RAMBUS chips. I get error 13 on the debug LED. I thought maybe it was the ram, went and bought 2 128 meg...
