Poor Raid Performance

Am using the Abit kr7a-133r board with 2 Maxtor 40 gig ATA133 hdds. The disk performance in Sandra is only 28000. This should be 40000 or better. Have the latest mb bios and highpoint bios and drivers. Am I missing something in the bios setup? CPU is AMD 2000xp with alpha 8045 HS. Am running...

Promise Ultra 133 controler card and Windows XP

Make sure you have the latest bios flash for your board. Download the drivers to a floppy, go to the device manger and wherever the card is listed, ie: Scisi and Raid controller or IDE controller, go to the update driver Wizard and install from the "don't search I will choose the driver" option...

Which motherbards will fit this case?

I think that you would be better off to buy the mid ATX EVERCASE E4252WEFA case at www.newegg.com. for $42. Most of the motherboards inthe Pavillions are proprietary and are probably the AT form factor. A micro atx mobo might fit but all the connectors would probably be different. It might take...

Need help on cooling Tbird 1.4ghz

Try the AOC Majesty Twin Cooler Model pm-tb-bx2 from nextfan.com. It keeps my AMD 1600XP below 40c no matter how hard it is working. It is reasonably quiet and about $17.00 at nextfan.

New HSF not so cold!!

just recieved the new Silverado HSF from England. I am running it at the 12 volt range. It is reasonably quiet and I can imagine it would be considerably quieter using the 6,8,or 10 volt ranges. The problem is that my CPU still idles at 45c with 2 80mm case fans and the power supply fan going. I...

Computer won't boot!

I had about the same thing happen when building a new system. would not post but everything lit up. Turned out to be a bad stick of ram. Try removing the ram and booting with just one stick at a time swapping sticks to see if it will post.

Socket A cooler.

Has anyone seen a socket A cooler that uses all three latch pods on the socket. I want a heat sink that will latch all the way across front and back. I have had my cooler off so many times that the center plastic pod is worn and will not catch properly.

T-bird runs hot.

slow boot with tbird 1ghz

I had the same problem with an amd 800 and win2k. Someone said to swap my HP cd writer and my cd rom connectors on the mobo. This cured the slow boot. I have no idea why. :D spidro
