i'm having this same problem with an MSI K8N and an antec sonata.
have a 120GB SATA with the OS and a 2nd 120GB IDE drive for storage and the hdd activity light stays on all the time.
i sincerely doubt that they'll run the 30% off on any of the 6800 models. this "5th anniversary sale" is conveniently coming at a time when they'd want to clear out a lot of their older inventory. and just because it says that a different card will be available every day doesn't mean that they...
hmm i wonder if they've decided not to ship any 6800's (including GT's) to the stores in order to avoid having to fulfill the pre-pays, or if they changed it to web only to try and get out of having to take any more pre-pays...
then their ad should say something like IN-STOCK ONLY, NO RAINCHECKS, PRE-ORDERS OR PRE-PAYS, instead of saving 30% on ALL PNY cards.
none of these companies are held accountable anymore; they just cancel orders and honor advertisements whenever they feel like it.
Thanks for the help everyone
It's a Falcon Northwest computer with a 300 watt PSU. The only real change that I've made to the system is swapping out the power hungry v5 5500 for the gf3, which has run flawlessly in the system for quite some time now (1 yr+). The OS is windows xp pro. I'm...
Like the topic says, my computer locks up temporarily when trying to run anything that involves 3d (games, apps, diag, etc). After freezing for a bit I'm finally able to task out and get back to the desktop, where it appears to be ok doing anything that's 2D. This started suddenly without any...
Try calling Dell yourself. Their sales staff is unknowledgable and incompetent. Mistake or not they are misleading thousands and thousands of customers and I want people to be aware of it. I'm not looking for special treatment or anything from Dell.
no, i didn't/don't hate dell, but imagine yourself saving thousands to buy a laptop and choosing a particular company/model because of one of the features. then imagine it not having that advertised feature. i'm sick of these big corporations getting away with treating customers like this...
I'm in the market for a new laptop that's thin, light, but that can also handle some gaming. I was extremely close to buying a new Dell Inspiron 4150, partially because I was LEAD to believe that it was using a 32MB ATI Radeon Mobility 7500. However, after doing some research, I came to the...

I went to My Computer and double clicked on the floppy icon and Windows XP said the floppy isn't formatted and prompted me to format it so I clicked yes. But that still didn't work, giving me an error "Windows was unable to complete the format." Also, in format options, I tried checking "Create...

i'm having the same EXACT problem. my drive is new and i doubt that it's bad. i've been reading about 3-mode floppy drives having problems with xp but have been unable to find a fix or if that's even the case.
just like the topic says, every other time i run UT, the sound gets all garbled. it'll run perfectly, then sound like trash, perfect, trash, perfect trash.
i've tried turning the acceleration down a notch in dxdiag, but that doesn't help. any ideas?
In games like UT there is very noticeable mouse acceleration and it sucks when you're not used to it. I have an Intellimouse Optical and the newest 4.0 drivers from ms. anybody know how to fix this?
Setup:
Asus A7V with integrated Promise ATA100 Controller
IBM 75GXP ATA100 HDD on Promise Controller as master
Toshiba 48x cdrom as Secondary Master
Plextor 12x Burner as Primary Master
I put the Winxp cd in the tosh48x (e drive) and boot from it, format to ntfs and begin the install process...
when using AA in unreal tournament i'm getting those same lines/artifacts that are shown in your 2nd screen shot. I didn't have that problem with my V5 5500, any of the drivers and dx8.0a.
