I'm a little sick of that, too. If it's a white kid it's perfectly acceptable to yell "Hey, turn it down!". But only to a white kid. Any other race, and suddenly you're labeled a racist.

For the vain: Sexiest car (girl factor) for about $30K?

Anything that can fit in the bed of a pickup is not going to be considered 'hot' by anyone - that is unless you're talking about 200hp and two wheels instead of four. A GSX1000R may get a little attention, but a Mini Cooper? Unless you're trying to rack up 'cute' points, I'd stay far away...

Diesel Problems

I think you'd look at this like claiming a portion of your house as a home office. You can't count the space unless it's dedicated 100% to your roommate. So the percentage would be the square footage of the room that he uses exclusively.
