20PIN PSU vs 24PIN MOBO??

the switch on the back of the PSU isn't going to "fire up" your computer. it needs to be on, but it's the front switch on the case that's going to fire things up. the best way to determine what component, if any, is defective is to swap parts into a known working computer.

got mine from Monarch a few weeks back. i'm at 2.52GHz (280*9) @ 1.475v. OCCT & Prime95 (15 hours) stable :) highest voltage i tried was 1.55 and that didn't gain me much but 1-2Mhz so i ratcheted down the voltage again. may try some burn-in stuff and higher V's in a couple of days. i'm sick...

iirc, the Soprano is steel, not aluminum. the main differentiator, imo, and the reason for the substantially cheaper price.

ok, after rereading the thread, i agree that the pci-card clips suck and i wish the power/hdd lights passed through the outer door. all in all, quite happy. i think it's worth $100, but YMMV

just built up a new A64 rig with this case. other than it being maybe a bit too shiny :) (picks up fingerprints like nobodies business (i guess that's why they include a polishing cloth)), i really like it. maybe they changed case fans, but i find it to be very quiet. ok, maybe i'm no quiet...

just put together my new rig based on the dfi nF4 ultra-d mobo. everything is working peachy except for the HDD led on my case. i've tried flipping the wires on the pins, but that hasn't helped at all. all i have is a single SATA HDD so i was wondering if only regular IDE activity made the...

DFI Ultra-D dual channel not working!?

i think 2&4 that he mentions are the same colored orange slots. if just one stick in one of those slots also doesn't work, sounds like you've got something wrong with those 2 slots, for whatever reason. do you have other memory you can test with. you are doing just stock memory timings for...

you probably will be, but the stock timings are 3-4-4-8. the higher vDimm will let you tighten up the timings. if you're not gonna try going higher frequencies or tighter timings, i'd say stick with what you got if they're working AOK. edit i know it's heresy, but testing has shown that...

How do I remove and put on Artic Silver 5?

i just got a combo from Monarch. i asked them not to test, but they put on the generic heatsink i got. i'm still waiting for some parts, but thought i'd put on the XP-90 . . . i think i did have a heart attack as the cpu popped out of the closed socket!! i think i'm more worried about damaging...

often, slower timings are put on the SPD speeds to ensure that computers will post/boot OK. it's then up to the user to adjust in BIOS, as someone else mentioned.

if you go SLI, the other pci-e slots are blocked with this board. iirc, on the DFI, the x4 slot is outside of the two x16 slots. a consequence of this is that there is less space between the x16 slots on the dfi so cards with big cooling units may be pretty packed together. the Karajan audio...

hmm. i should look into this. Earthlink (supplied by Covad) did a free upgrade of d/l speeds to 3Mbps, of which i max around 2.5Mbps, but they left u/l speeds at the same 3xxkbps. would love to double that!

any pros & cons on lian li black pc-65b?

i've got a 65b and it's pretty nice, though i think i like the newer design with the front firewire and the larger fans which should be a bit quieter and move as much, if not more air, especially the rear fan.
